Job Description

Role Overview:

The Plant HR Manager will lead and execute all HR initiatives at the plant, ensuring smooth employee lifecycle management, compliance, workforce engagement, and effective coordination between plant operations and the corporate HR team. This role is critical to building a productive, safe, and engaged shop-floor environment.

Role & responsibilities

1. HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle

  • Manage end-to-end HR operations at the plantonboarding, induction, confirmation, transfers, and exit processes.
  • Ensure accurate and timely HRIS updates, attendance management, and payroll coordination.
  • Handle employment contracts, MIS, and periodic HR reporting.

2. Workforce & Compliance Management

  • Ensure statutory compliance as per labour laws (Factories Act, CLRA, Shops & Establishment, POSH, etc.).
  • Liaise with government authorities, auditors, and compliance partners.
  • Manage contract workforce, contractor audits, wage compliance, and statutory documentation.

3. Talent Acquisition & Deployment

  • Drive plant-level recruitment for staff, operators, GETs/DETs, and critical roles.
  • Work with operations managers to plan manpower requirements and shift allocations.

4. Employee Relations (ER)

  • Manage shop-floor relations, grievance redressal, and employee discipline.
  • Conduct counselling sessions and drive fair performance management practices.
  • Collaborate with union/worker representatives where applicable.

5. Training & Development

  • Conduct training needs analysis (TNA) for plant workforce.
  • Deliver or facilitate modules on safety, soft skills, behavioural, and technical training.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory training requirements.

6. Engagement, Culture & Welfare

  • Drive employee engagement programs, R&R, and welfare initiatives.
  • Promote strong culture-building practices, communication forums, and feedback mechanisms.
  • Manage canteen, transport, hostel, uniform, and hygiene facilities in partnership with admin.

7. Performance & Productivity Support

  • Support plant leadership in productivity improvement, capability building, and OD initiatives.
  • Facilitate PMS cycles, goal-setting, and employee development plans.

8. Safety & Health Coordination

  • Ensure alignment with EHS guidelines and support safety audits and campaigns.
  • Manage medical room operations, annual health check-ups, and wellbeing initiatives.
