Job Description

The role involves managing various HR functions including recruitment, attendance management, payroll support, and compliance with labor laws.

Responsibilities

  • Recruitment & Onboarding
  • Source and recruit workers such as welders, fabricators, machine operators, helpers, painters, galvanizing staff, etc.
  • Coordinate with manpower agencies / contractors for timely availability of labor.
  • Conduct basic screening and skill verification (welding test, fitting test, etc.).
  • Collect documents, maintain personal files of each worker and also on Excel.
  • Conduct plant orientation on safety rules, PPE usage, work culture, and attendance rules.
  • Attendance & Shift Management
  • Daily tracking of worker attendance (biometric/manual).
  • Maintain shift rosters and ensure manpower availability across shifts.
  • Record overtime (OT) as per statutory norms and verify OT claims.
  • Monitor late-coming, absenteeism, and take corrective action.
  • Payroll Support
  • Validate timesheets, OT calculations, leave deductions.
  • Coordinate with senior HR for monthly salary processing.
  • Ensure compliance with minimum wages and state wage notifications.
  • Statutory Compliance (Labour Laws)
  • Maintain compliance records under:
  • ESIC
  • EPF
  • Contract Labour Act
  • Minimum Wages Act
  • Payment of Wages Act
  • Ensure vendor/contractor compliance – muster rolls, challans, wage register.
  • Display statutory notices around the plant.
  • Worker Welfare & Grievance Handling
  • Act as the first point of contact for worker issues and grievances.
  • Ensure safe working conditions and adequate PPE supply.
  • Conduct welfare activities: medical camps, canteen oversight, transport arrangements, hostel facilities (if provided).
  • Address conflicts or misconduct issues on the shop floor.
  • Training & Skill Development
  • Coordinate technical training for welders, machine operators, and fitters.
  • Conduct safety training (PPE, fire safety, material handling).
  • Maintain skill matrix and arrange upskilling programs.
  • Safety & Compliance Monitoring
  • Collaborate with the Safety Officer to enforce safety standards.
  • Conduct periodic PPE checks, safety toolbox talks.
  • Record accidents, near-misses, and maintain incident reports.
  • Performance Monitoring
  • Track efficiency of workers in welding, fabrication, bending, rolling, cutting, galvanizing, painting, etc.
  • Support line managers in worker evaluations.
  • Maintain discipline on the shop floor.
  • Contractor & Vendor Management
  • Verify contractor bills based on attendance and output.
  • Ensure contractors follow HR and statutory guidelines.
  • Manage gate pass, ID cards, uniform issuance.
  • HR Administration
  • Maintain HR records, registers, and documentation.
  • Manage leave records and approvals.
  • Support audits: internal, client, or statutory.
  • Coordinate medical fitness tests for workers.
