Job Description

Experience Required:

15+ years (including at least 5 years in a leadership role in transformer manufacturing )Must have 20 MVA to 50 MVA manufacturing of Transformers

Job Purpose

To lead and manage the entire manufacturing operations of the transformer plant, ensuring efficient production, quality control, cost-effective processes, and compliance with safety and industry standards. The Plant Head will be responsible for delivering production targets, implementing lean manufacturing practices, and driving continuous improvement to support business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production & Operations Management
  • Oversee daily plant operations and production activities for power and distribution transformers.
  • Ensure achievement of production targets as per planning and customer delivery schedules.
  • Optimize utilization of manpower, machinery, and material resources.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to ISO, BIS, IEC, and other relevant quality standards.
  • Monitor implementation of quality control processes at all stages (core cutting, winding, assembly, testing, etc.).
  • Coordinate with QA/QC and testing departments for failure analysis and process improvements.
  • Supply Chain & Inventory
  • Coordinate with procurement, stores, and logistics to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components (CRGO, copper, oil, bushings, etc.).
  • Minimize inventory holding costs while preventing production delays.
  • Maintenance & Safety
  • Oversee preventive and breakdown maintenance of plant machinery and equipment.
  • Implement and enforce safety practices in line with statutory regulations.
  • Drive workplace safety awareness and zero-accident culture.
  • People Management
  • Lead, train, and motivate plant workforce and departmental managers.
  • Define KPIs for all departments; review performance regularly.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, and TPM practices to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Lead root cause analysis for defects and reworks; implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Strategic & Budgetary Planning
  • Prepare and manage the plant’s annual budget and cost control plans.
  • Coordinate with senior management for capacity expansion, technology upgrades, and new product introductions.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • In-depth knowledge of transformer manufacturing processes (core making, coil winding, tank fabrication, testing, etc.)
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Proficiency in production planning, quality systems, and safety norms.
