Role Summary

The General & Personal Trainer will deliver high-quality fitness training services to club members (both individual and small group), support the overall floor operations, and contribute to member satisfaction and retention. The role involves designing and delivering effective workout programmes, monitoring performance, motivating and coaching clients, ensuring safe exercise practices, and collaborating with the club team to create a positive training environment.


Key Responsibilities

1. Personal Training

  • Conduct one-on-one training sessions with members based on their goals (weight loss, muscle gain, strength, rehabilitation, general fitness).
  • Assess each client’s fitness level, posture, movement patterns, and create an individualized plan.
  • Monitor client progress, adjust programmes as needed, track metrics (body weight, composition, strength, endurance).
  • Educate clients on proper exercise technique, use of equipment, and safe training habits.
  • Offer ongoing motivation, feedback, and support to keep clients engaged and on track.

2. General Floor Training / Group Support

  • Supervise and assist members exercising on the gym floor—help them with machine usage, free weights, functional area.
  • Deliver and lead smaller group training sessions or boot-camp style classes if needed.
  • Provide high touch service on the floor: greeting members, providing guidance, correcting form, ensuring safe environment.
  • Help maintain a welcoming, energetic and safe training atmosphere for all members.

3. Programme Design & Delivery

  • Develop and maintain training programmes for different member profiles (beginners, intermediate, advanced).
  • Support special programmes: transformation challenges, nutrition guidance (in coordination with nutrition team), recovery programmes.
  • Stay current with fitness trends, new training modalities (Functional Training, TRX, HIIT, kettlebells, mobility, etc) and incorporate them into offerings as relevant.

4. Member Engagement & Retention

  • Build strong relationships with clients and members; act as a champion for their training journey.
  • Provide regular follow-ups, motivate re-visits, and monitor engagement.
  • Identify client drop-off risk and work with management / retention team to prevent attrition.
  • Promote add-on services (personal training blocks, small group training) and help grow revenue.

5. Safety, Hygiene & Equipment Management

  • Ensure that all training sessions and floor activities adhere to safety protocols; spot and correct unsafe technique.
  • Oversee the condition of equipment used during training, report faults, ensure cleaning and maintenance.
  • Maintain training logs, client files, progress notes and update scheduling/booking system.
  • Comply with club policies and standards (including hygiene, front-of-house standards, member confidentiality).

6. Collaboration & Club Duties

  • Coordinate with sales/membership team to participate in new-member induction/trials and showcase training services.
  • Work alongside other trainers, floor staff, and managers to create club-wide fitness culture.
  • Participate in club events, fitness challenges, open-house sessions, demo classes to promote training services.
  • Support new trainers or interns if part of the team; help with mentoring and standardising training delivery.
