About The Team And The Role
We are seeking a proactive and hands-on HR Generalist to provide comprehensive, onsite HR support for our rapidly growing Global Capability Center (GCC) in Bengaluru, India. As the first point of contact for our employees and managers, you will play a crucial role in fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performance culture. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the employee lifecycle, from onboarding to exit, while ensuring our HR operations are efficient, compliant, and aligned with both local needs and eBay's global objectives. This role will also be responsible for establishing and developing the on-site People Operations team.
What You Will Accomplish
○ Own and continuously improve the new hire onboarding process to ensure a seamless integration into the company.
○ Partner with our talent development team to provide engaging experience during the first several months to help new hires learn eBay’s business and culture.
- HR Operations & Administration:
○ Manage the end-to-end employee lifecycle processes, including onboarding, transfers, promotions, and exit formalities.
○ Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee data in our HRIS system (Workday).○ Administer local leave and benefits programs, including health insurance, provident fund (PF), and other statutory benefits, and act as a liaison with the benefits team.○ Handle all HR-related documentation, such as employment contracts, confirmation letters, experience letters, and policy acknowledgments.
○ Serve as the primary HR contact for employees and line managers, providing guidance and support on HR-related queries, policies, and procedures.
○ Manage and resolve employee relations issues, conducting effective, thorough, and objective investigations when necessary.○ Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).○ Deliver employee relations training to leaders.
- Compliance & Policy Management:
○ Ensure compliance with all relevant Indian labor laws and regulations (e.g., Shops and Establishment Act, PF, ESI, Gratuity, POSH).
○ Assist in adapting and implementing global HR policies to the local context, ensuring they are well-understood and consistently applied.○ Maintain statutory records and support internal and external audits.
- Employee Engagement & Culture:
○ Champion eBay’s culture and values within the GCC.
○ Drive and support local employee engagement initiatives, events, and wellness programs.
- Performance & Development:
○ Support the annual performance management cycle, including goal setting, mid-year reviews, and year-end reviews, as needed, and in partnership with the site People Business Partner.○ Partner with managers to identify training needs and coordinate with the Learning & Development team to facilitate local training sessions, as needed.
What You Will Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in an HR Manager role , preferably within a multinational technology, e-commerce, or shared services environment in India.
- Must be based in or willing to relocate to Bangalore, India, and work onsite at least 3 days a week.
- Strong working knowledge of Indian labor laws and statutory compliance requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion and build strong relationships based on trust.
- Proficiency in Google collaboration tools and experience with HRIS platforms (specifically Workday).
- High level of emotional intelligence and strong problem-solving skills.
- Strong coaching, mentoring and stakeholder management skills.
- 3+ years of experience in leading a team of HR professionals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree (MBA/PGDM) in Human Resources.
- Direct experience working in a Global Capability Center (GCC)
- Experience supporting a rapidly scaling organization.
- SHRM-CP, PHR, or other relevant HR certification is a plus.
