Role description

Infrastructure Monitoring & Operations

  • Provide 24x7 support for NOC operations, ensuring continuous monitoring of global IT infrastructure and services.

  • Monitor servers, cloud services, network devices, communication links, storage systems, backup devices, telephony systems, and applications.

  • Monitor server uptime, performance, and system health (CPU, memory, disk usage) using monitoring tools.

  • Respond promptly to s related to service outages or performance degradation.

  • Review system logs regularly to identify errors, warnings, or unusual activity.

User & System Administration

  • Manage user accounts and permissions (create, modify, delete users/groups, password resets, permission updates).

  • Perform basic troubleshooting for common issues such as printer problems, file access issues, and network connectivity.

Virtualization Monitoring (VMware/ESXi)

  • Monitor ESXi host health and performance metrics.

  • Perform basic VM operations (start, stop, restart virtual machines).

  • Troubleshoot basic ESXi issues, including VM network connectivity and virtual switch configurations.

Database Monitoring & Support

  • Monitor database server health and performance (SQL Server, Oracle, etc.).

  • Verify daily backup jobs and perform basic database restores.

  • Execute simple SQL queries and perform basic database administrative tasks (user creation, role management).

Storage & Backup Monitoring

  • Monitor storage systems for capacity, performance, and s.

  • Ensure regular backups for all infrastructure components and verify successful job completion.

  • Perform basic backup restore operations when required.

Active Directory & Windows Services

  • Monitor and maintain AD service health using Event Viewer, AD Replication Status, and related tools.

  • Troubleshoot authentication and basic domain-related issues.

Cloud Infrastructure Monitoring (AWS/GCP/Azure)

  • Regularly check EC2 instance health using AWS CloudWatch and Console.

  • Monitor and manage S3 bucket usage, permissions, policies, versioning, and encryption settings.

  • Respond to CloudWatch s related to EC2, RDS, and S3 health, performance, or storage.

  • Perform simple database restores and manage database users for AWS RDS instances.

Network Monitoring & Security

  • Monitor network devices (routers, switches, firewalls) and respond to connectivity or performance s.

  • Monitor email system health, including queue status and delivery issues.

  • Monitor Cisco ISE and Cisco Umbrella for security s, network activity, and endpoint access events.

  • Enforce network access policies, manage guest access, and troubleshoot authentication issues.

Incident Management & Escalation

  • Handle basic issues across servers, networks, cloud systems, databases, and storage.

  • Escalate unresolved or complex issues to L2/L3 support teams.

  • Document incidents, resolutions, and follow-ups according to ITIL processes.

Tools and Technologies

  • Monitoring tools: SolarWinds, LogicMonitor, Zabbix, Datadog, AWS CloudWatch

  • Virtualization: VMware, ESXi

  • Cloud: AWS, Azure, GCP

  • Databases: SQL Server, Oracle

  • Identity: Active Directory

  • Backup solutions: Various enterprise backup tools

  • Networking: Basic understanding of network troubleshooting and configurations

Required Skills

  • Fundamental knowledge of networking concepts (OSI model, routing, VLANs).

  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with cross-functional teams.

  • Proactive approach to incident resolution and minimizing downtime.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, troubleshoot effectively, and escalate issues appropriately.

Experience

  • 2–4 years of experience in a NOC or similar infrastructure support role (servers, databases, cloud systems).

  • Certifications such as ITIL, VMware, and Cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP) are a plus.
