About The Opportunity

We operate in the IT Services & Network Operations sector delivering managed network and infrastructure monitoring solutions for enterprise customers across India. This on-site role sits within a high-availability Network Operations Center (NOC) environment focused on 24x7 network performance, availability, and incident response.Primary job title: Network Monitoring Engineer (NOC Engineer) — On-site, India.Role & Responsibilities

Continuously monitor network devices, links, and services using enterprise monitoring platforms; detect, validate, and triage alarms to meet SLAs.
Perform first-line incident diagnosis and remediation (packet captures, log analysis, CLI checks); escalate complex issues to L2/L3 engineers with clear RCA and context.
Tune monitoring thresholds, maintain alerting rules, and reduce false positives through proactive rule optimization and correlation.
Maintain and administer monitoring tools, dashboards, and scheduled reports; ensure monitoring coverage for configuration changes and maintenance windows.
Create and update runbooks, standard operating procedures, and incident post-mortems to improve mean-time-to-resolution (MTTR).
Participate in change windows, on-call rotations, and scheduled maintenance; collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate fixes and confirm service restoration.

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have

Hands-on experience with Nagios, SolarWinds NPM, Zabbix, or PRTG for network monitoring and alerting.
Strong protocol knowledge: SNMP, NetFlow, sFlow, TCP/IP, and syslog analytics.
Packet capture and analysis using Wireshark or tcpdump for root-cause troubleshooting.
Proficient with Linux command-line for log diagnostics, scripting, and monitoring agent management.
Experience working in a 24x7 NOC or network operations environment with incident management tools and processes.
Ability to perform structured incident documentation, runbook execution, and escalate with concise technical details.

Preferred

Familiarity with Prometheus/Grafana or other metrics and dashboarding platforms.
Basic scripting or automation with Python, Bash, or PowerShell to automate routine diagnostics and alerts.
Exposure to routing and switching technologies (Cisco IOS, Juniper Junos) and BGP/OSPF fundamentals.
