Role Overview

Network L2 Engineer

Key Responsibilities

Manage and maintain enterprise network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
Handle Layer 2 and Layer 3 network configurations (VLAN, STP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, HSRP, VRRP, GLBP).
Troubleshoot complex network issues and provide Level 2 support for incidents and escalations.
Perform network performance monitoring, capacity planning, and fault management.
Ensure timely resolution of network faults to maintain maximum uptime.
Implement configuration changes, firmware upgrades, and patching as per change management procedures.
Collaborate with NOC and security teams for proactive monitoring and incident response.
Configure and manage VPNs, IPSEC tunnels, and routing protocols for inter-site connectivity.
Maintain documentation of configurations, network topologies, and standard operating procedures.
Participate in network audits, DR drills, and infrastructure improvement initiatives.

Skills & Qualifications

Strong knowledge of Layer 2/3 protocols and enterprise network architecture.
Hands-on experience with Cisco routers, switches, and firewall configurations.
Familiarity with data centre environments, redundancy concepts, and failover mechanisms.
Experience with monitoring tools and network management systems (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, SNMP tools).
Solid understanding of AAA, VLANs, ACLs, and VPN technologies.
Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
Certifications:
CCNA / CCNP
(mandatory).
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
