The Role We’re looking for a highly experienced and motivated Naval Architect to lead and manage marine basic design projects at 21 Knots. This role demands strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and a deep understanding of naval architecture and ship design. You will oversee all stages of basic design, manage a multidisciplinary team, and interact directly with clients to ensure project success and continued business development. Responsibilities Lead end-to-end management of all marine basic design projects , ensuring quality, timeliness, and compliance Conduct regular project monitoring through team meetings and progress tracking Review and validate naval architecture calculations including: Intact and damage stability calculations Towing and bollard pull calculations Sea fastening calculations Rule-based structural scantling calculations Perform hull form development , seakeeping analysis , mooring analysis , and DP capability assessments Develop concept designs for vessel conversions and upgrades Lead and mentor teams of Naval Architects and Structural Engineers Engage in client interactions for project reviews, technical clarifications, and business development initiatives What You’ll Need Experience: Minimum 1+ years of experience in marine design, project management, and/or ship construction/repairs Proven experience with vessel basic design , including hull form, structural, electrical, machinery, and outfitting aspects Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Naval Architecture or a related engineering discipline Tools & Software Proficiency: Working knowledge of FEA , CFD , and advanced marine engineering methodologies Familiarity with marine design and analysis software tools Understanding of finite element analysis , rule-based calculations , and structural design principles Skills & Competencies: Strong knowledge of Classification Society rules (ABS, DNV, LR, IRS) Solid understanding of regulatory requirements including SOLAS , MARPOL , Tonnage , and DGS Excellent project planning, documentation, and technical review skills Effective leadership and mentoring skills Strong verbal and written communication skills for engaging with internal teams and external clients Why Join 21 Knots We don’t just talk about balance, learning, or recognition—we design our work culture around it.
