A hospital maintenance manager job description includes leading a maintenance team, developing and implementing preventive maintenance plans for hospital systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, Medical Gas & General Maintenance), managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and regulatory standards.


About the Role


Key responsibilities are overseeing repair and maintenance activities, coordinating with other hospital departments, and using data to drive continuous improvement, all while ensuring facility reliability and safety for patient care.


Responsibilities



  • Leadership:

    Lead, manage, and train a team of maintenance staff to ensure optimal performance and provide technical support.
  • Planning:

    Develop and implement long-term maintenance and repair strategies, including preventive and predictive maintenance programs for all hospital equipment and systems.
  • Budget Management:

    Oversee the maintenance budget, control costs, and ensure all activities are within budget constraints.
  • Compliance and Safety:

    Monitor and ensure the hospital facility and all maintenance activities comply with health, safety, and all relevant regulatory standards.
  • Coordination:

    Coordinate with other hospital departments, such as Biomedical Engineering, to schedule maintenance activities and ensure minimal disruption to patient care.
  • Operations Management:

    Supervise all repair and maintenance activities, including the upkeep of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, and ensure the availability of critical spare parts and tools.
  • Data and Improvement:

    Analyze maintenance data and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Reporting:

    Document and submit reports to senior management on budgets, progress, and schedules.
  • Vendor Management: Identifying and engaging appropriate vendors for the utility equipments and general repairs.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, facilities management, or a related field.
  • Significant experience in facility maintenance or management, with a demonstrated ability to lead teams.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Proficiency in maintenance management software and other relevant tools.
  • Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills.
