Job Description – Automation Maintenance Engineer (Robotic Assembly) Position Title: Automation Maintenance Engineer – Robotic Assembly Department: Maintenance – Assembly Operations Reports To: Maintenance Manager / Engineering Manager Major Roles & Responsibilities1. Preventive Maintenance Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on robotic assembly equipment. Ensure optimal equipment performance and minimize downtime. Extend equipment lifespan by following preventive maintenance schedules. 2. Troubleshooting and Repairs Diagnose and repair breakdowns in robotic systems. Perform PLC troubleshooting and resolve communication issues between multiple PLC systems. Ensure quick response to breakdowns to minimize production impact. 3. Vision System Maintenance Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot vision systems used in the assembly line for quality checks. Ensure vision systems function correctly to support product quality and process reliability. 4. Drive Systems Maintenance Maintain and troubleshoot Siemens Drives, SEW Drives, and other motion control systems. Address drive-related issues promptly to maintain production continuity. 5. Sensing Devices Maintenance Install, maintain, and troubleshoot a variety of sensing devices, including proximity sensors, photoelectric sensors, and limit switches. Ensure correct sensor operation for accurate automation and process control. 6. Electrical Hoists Maintenance Maintain and repair electrical hoists used in the assembly process. Conduct routine safety checks to ensure safe operation of lifting equipment. 7. Documentation Maintain detailed logs and documentation of all maintenance activities. Record issues, repairs, spare part usage, and equipment performance. Contribute to preventive maintenance records and continuous improvement initiatives. Required Qualifications and Skills Education: Diploma/BE/B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related field. Experience: 3–8 years in robotic assembly maintenance or industrial automation. Hands-on experience with PLC systems (Siemens/Allen Bradley or equivalent). Good knowledge of drive systems (Siemens/SEW) and vision systems troubleshooting. Familiarity with sensors, actuators, and industrial automation hardware. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and PLC logic. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Adherence to safety protocols and best maintenance practices. Soft Skills and Attributes Strong communication and collaboration skills. Proactive, self-driven, and committed to minimizing downtime. Ability to work independently as well as in a team under pressure. Willingness to work in shifts and attend to emergency breakdowns. Work Environment Shop-floor environment with exposure to robotic systems, machinery, and electrical equipment. Requires physical presence for equipment inspection, repair, and maintenance tasks.
