Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced
Linux System Administrator
responsible for managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise Linux environments. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with
RHEL and Ubuntu servers
, system performance tuning,
LVM partition management
,
kernel upgrades
, and
virtualization technologies
like
VMware
or
RHEV
. The role involves ensuring high availability, security, and efficiency of Linux systems across production and virtual infrastructures.
Key Responsibilities
- Linux Server Administration
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems (RHEL, Ubuntu).
- Manage system services such as SSH, DNS, NTP, and syslog.
- Perform OS patching, upgrades, and health checks.
- Troubleshoot OS, network, and application-related issues.
- Filesystem & Storage Management
- Create and manage partitions using LVM (Logical Volume Manager).
- Extend or shrink file systems as per requirements.
- Manage mount points and handle disk utilization issues.
- Work with storage teams for volume provisioning and integration.
- Kernel & System Updates
- Perform kernel upgrades, patching, and reboot validations.
- Maintain system stability during updates and rollback in case of failures.
- Monitor system logs for kernel or hardware-related issues.
- Server Architecture & Performance
- Understand server hardware architecture — CPU, memory, storage, and NICs.
- Analyze and optimize system performance using tools like top, iostat, vmstat, and sar.
- Troubleshoot high load or performance degradation issues.
- Virtualization & Infrastructure Management
- Manage virtualized environments (VMware, RHEV).
- Create and configure virtual machines, snapshots, and resource allocations.
- Troubleshoot virtual machine connectivity and performance issues.
- Support migration and backup of virtual instances.
- System Security & Compliance
- Implement OS-level security (firewall, SELinux, user privileges).
- Ensure compliance with patching and access control policies.
- Maintain sudoers configurations and manage user/group permissions.
- Backup & Recovery
- Schedule and monitor system backups.
- Perform system recovery and restore activities.
- Validate backup integrity and retention policies.
- Automation & Documentation
- Write shell or Python scripts for repetitive administrative tasks.
- Maintain documentation for configurations, processes, and system inventories.
- Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical guides.

- Linux Foundation Certified Engineer (LFCE)
