Job Description

About the Role

We’re looking for a seasoned Lift Design Engineer to own the end‑to‑end technical documentation for our elevator products. You’ll leverage your deep knowledge of elevator components, standards, and manufacturing workflows to produce flawless 2D drawings, manage our component library, and drive continuous improvements in how we bring designs into production and onto the job site.

Key Responsibilities

1. Precision Technical Drafting

  • Create and update 2D CAD drawings of elevator car frames, door assemblies, guide rails, counterweights, traction machines, and control panels.
  • Interpret mechanical and structural calculations into clear fabrication drawings that meet ASME A17.1 / EN 81‑20/50 standards (or local equivalents).
  • Maintain strict version control, issuing revisions promptly to reflect design optimizations or field feedback.

2. Parts & BOM Management

  • Build and maintain a comprehensive Bill of Materials (BOM) for every lift series—mechanical, electrical, and architectural components.
  • Collaborate with procurement and warehouse teams to ensure part numbers, descriptions, and suppliers are correct and up‑to‑date.
  • Implement automated checks to catch mismatches between drawings and the ERP part master.

3. Documentation & Compliance

  • Produce installation guides, assembly instructions, and test‑report templates that align with our Quality Management System (ISO 9001).
  • Review all deliverables for compliance with safety, seismic, and fire‑rating requirements.
  • Lead periodic audits of technical files to ensure nothing slips through the cracks.

4. Cross‑Functional Coordination

  • Act as the technical liaison between R&D, production, field service, and sales—translating customer site constraints into workable design changes.
  • Attend weekly production‑engineering huddles to resolve shop‑floor queries and communicate drawing updates.
  • Support commissioning teams with “as‑built” documentation and shop drawings when field modifications are needed.

5. Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Identify and rollout new CAD standards, template libraries, and drafting best practices to boost efficiency by 10–20%.
  • Propose design changes that reduce part count, simplify assembly, or cut material costs without compromising ride quality.
  • Stay current on emerging elevator technologies (e.g., gearless traction, regenerative drives, machine‑room‑less systems).

What We’re Looking For

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of hands‑on lift/elevator design and drafting experience.

Technical Skills

  • Expert in AutoCAD (2D) — experience with Revit/Inventor or SolidWorks is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of elevator codes (ASME A17.1/EN 81).
  • Skilled in creating and maintaining structured BOMs and ERP part‑master records.

Attributes

  • Meticulous attention to detail and a passion for precision.
  • Strong analytical mindset—able to troubleshoot field issues back to drawing revisions.
  • Excellent communicator who thrives in cross‑disciplinary teams.
  • Proactive about process improvements and documentation rigor.

Why Join Us?

  • Cutting‑Edge Projects: Work on high‑rise and machine‑room‑less elevator systems in landmark buildings.
  • Growth Path: Opportunities to lead design teams, mentor junior engineers, or transition into R&D roles.
  • Collaborative Culture: Agile, flat‑structure environment where your ideas for process and product enhancements are heard and implemented.
  • Impact: Your drawings and documentation become the blueprint for safe, reliable lifts that carry thousands of passengers every day.
