Role Summary

The Legal Manager Collections will be responsible for managing legal recovery matters, handling litigation related to financial collections, and ensuring effective resolution of delinquent accounts. The role involves managing cases under SARFAESI Act, Negotiable Instruments Act (Section 138), coordinating with external counsels, handling clients, and supporting dispute resolution mechanisms.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle and manage

  legal collection matters

  related to finance and banking recovery
• Independently manage cases under

  SARFAESI Act

  and

  Section 138 of Negotiable Instruments Act

• Draft, review, and issue

  legal notices, replies, pleadings, and recovery documentation

• Conduct

  legal research

  and provide opinions on collection and recovery matters
• Coordinate with

  advocates, law firms, and courts

  for effective case progression
• Manage

  case lifecycle

  , tracking hearings, filings, and compliance deadlines
• Handle

  client interaction

  , including domestic and

  UK clients

  , via calls and emails
• Assist in

  mediation and arbitration proceedings

  for out-of-court dispute resolution
• Ensure

  legal compliance

  with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies
• Support senior management with

  legal strategy for recovery and risk mitigation

• Maintain legal MIS, documentation, and reporting related to collections
  
• Leverage

  legal technology tools

  for case management and documentation

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of

  Banking & Finance Laws

• Expertise in

  SARFAESI Act

  and

  Negotiable Instruments Act (Section 138)

• Experience in

  legal drafting and documentation

• Excellent

  communication and client-handling skills

• Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively
  
• Experience in

  Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)

  mediation and arbitration
• Proficiency in

  legal research and case management systems

• Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  

Educational Qualification

• LLB / LLM

  from a recognized university

Preferred Experience

• Minimum

  4 years of experience

  in legal collections, banking recovery, or litigation
• Prior experience handling

  finance companies, NBFCs, or banks
