Analyze and optimize existing database schemas, queries, and performance for both SQL and NoSQL environments.
Design and implement new database architectures to support business applications and growth.
Collaborate with development teams to integrate database solutions with application logic.
Implement and maintain database security, backup, and recovery strategies.
Drive the adoption of best practices for database management, including indexing, partitioning, and query optimization.
Work with cloud-based databases (e.g., AWS RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, Google Cloud SQL, or Azure Cosmos DB) to ensure scalability and high availability.
Support the development of new features, including data modeling for future enhancements.
Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and provide proactive solutions.
Mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required

Deep proficiency in MySQL and/or PostgreSQL, including advanced query optimization, indexing, triggers, stored procedures, and schema design.
Strong experience with MongoDB and/or Redis, including document modeling, sharding, replication, and performance tuning.
Hands-on experience with cloud database platforms such as AWS RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, Google Cloud SQL, or Azure Cosmos DB.
Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex performance bottlenecks in high-traffic environments.
Expertise in designing efficient, scalable schemas for both relational and non-relational databases.
Familiarity with database monitoring tools (e.g., New Relic, Datadog), ORM frameworks, and ETL processes.
Strong communication skills and experience working in cross-functional teams with developers, DevOps, and product managers.
Familiarity with database migration strategies between on-premises and cloud environments.
Knowledge of containerized database deployments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified Database Specialty, Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer).
Knowledge of database security best practices, encryption, and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).

Experience

8+ years of professional experience in database design, optimization, and administration.

Education Qualification

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
