The Impact You Will Have in This Role
The Database Administrator will provide critical database administrative support for all DTCC environments, including Development, QA, client test, and our high-availability production and disaster recovery (DR) data centers.
The role requires extensive knowledge of MSSQL database administration and the ability to support additional database platforms, including Aurora PostgreSQL and Oracle.
This DBA will play a key role in the creation of new processes and solutions, ensuring optimal performance, data security, and reliability within a mission-critical Financial Services infrastructure environment.
What You'll Do
- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances (both on-premises and cloud-based)
- Implement and manage high-availability solutions such as Always On Availability Groups and clustering
- Support development, QA, PSE, and production environments using ServiceNow ticketing system
- Review production performance reports for variances from normal operation
- Optimize SQL queries and indexes for better efficiency
- Analyze queries and recommend tuning strategies
- Maintain database performance by calculating optimum values for database parameters and implementing new releases
- Perform database backup and recovery strategy using tools like SQL Server backup, log shipping, and other technologies
- Provide 3rd-level support for DTCC's critical production environments
- Participate in root cause analysis for database issues
- Support database functions by designing and coding utilities
- Conduct training for users, provide information, and resolve problems
- Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organizational standards
- Setup and maintain database replication and clustering solutions
- Stay updated with professional knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies
- Share responsibility for off-hour support and provide leadership and direction for the Architecture, Design, Maintenance, and Level 1, 2, and 3 (L1, L2, L3) support of a 7x24 global infrastructure
- Maintain documentation on database configurations and procedures
Education
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent work experience
Talents Needed for Success
Strong knowledge of Oracle
(19c, 21c, 22c)Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience
Proficiency in MSSQL Server and Aurora PostgreSQL databases
Strong knowledge of Python and Angular
Working knowledge of Oracle's GoldenGate Replication technology
Hands-on experience with Python, Ansible, and other scripting languages
to automate tasks- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance, while adhering to established processes and procedures
- Strong understanding of how databases fit into systems and how application changes influence database performance
Primary Skills
- Proven experience as a
Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator
(2016 or later) - Experience as an
L2 and L3 Engineer
or higher in managing large-scale MSSQL, Oracle, and PostgreSQL environments - Strong expertise in
performance tuning and optimization
