Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and proactive

L2 Linux Administrator / System Engineer

to join our IT team. The candidate will provide intermediate-level technical support for servers, storage, and operating systems, handle escalated incidents from L1 teams, and assist in implementation, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise IT infrastructure.The role requires strong knowledge of

Linux administration

,

virtualization

,

hardware troubleshooting

, and enterprise system environments to ensure high reliability, security, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

Monitoring and Performance Tuning:

  • Monitor system health and performance using tools like SolarWinds, Nagios, or similar platforms.
  • Tune system performance to ensure optimal operation.

Incident Management And Troubleshooting

  • Handle escalated issues from L1 support and provide timely resolutions.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting for Linux servers, storage systems, and operating systems.
  • Identify root causes of recurring issues and implement corrective measures.

System Maintenance And Administration

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks including patching, firmware updates, and backups.
  • Manage users, groups, system start-up, services, and file systems.
  • Ensure systems are secure, stable, and fully operational.

Configuration, Deployment, And Hardware Support

  • Install and configure application software.
  • Build servers using PXE boot, RAID configuration, and perform OS upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain HP & Dell hardware, coordinating with vendors for replacements.
  • Familiarity with Linux scripting for automation and administrative tasks.

Documentation And Reporting

  • Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions.
  • Generate reports on system performance, incidents, and changes for management review.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with L3 engineers to escalate complex issues and implement advanced solutions.
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers for hardware replacements and support.

Education

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (preferred).

Experience

  • 6–10 years in system engineering, Linux administration, or IT support roles.
  • Hands-on experience with server hardware, storage systems, and operating systems.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Linux administration, patch management, and vulnerability fixing.
  • Server builds using PXE boot, RAID configuration, and OS upgrades.
  • Familiarity with SAN/NAS storage technologies and backup solutions.
  • Experience with monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Nagios) and ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Jira).
  • Basic Linux scripting for automation and system administration.

Certifications (Preferred)

  • RHEL Certification or equivalent.
  • ITIL Foundation Certification.

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments and under pressure.
