Job Description The role of Cloud Specialist is for Ishan's cloud platform deployed at GIFT, Gandhinagar, Mumbai, and Chennai DCs, where we provide our customers services for hosting their applications like public cloud services. The SME will be responsible for platform architecture, upgrades, enhancements for new capabilities and 3rd party integrations, driving product roadmap etc. Responsibilities Design, architect, and implement scalable and highly available cloud infrastructure solutions using Red Hat OpenStack and OpenShift. Define and maintain the platform's architecture, ensuring alignment with business requirements and industry best practices. Evaluate and recommend new technologies and solutions to enhance the platform's capabilities. Plan and execute seamless upgrades of the OpenStack and OpenShift platforms, minimizing downtime and ensuring data integrity. Perform regular maintenance tasks, including patching, configuration management, and performance tuning. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to the platform. Implement new features and capabilities to meet evolving customer needs and market demands. Integrate third-party solutions and services with the OpenStack and OpenShift platforms. Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools to streamline platform operations. Contribute to the development of the platform's product roadmap, identifying opportunities for innovation and growth. Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to define and prioritize platform enhancements. Drive the adoption of new technologies and best practices within the team. Manage and maintain containerized environments using Docker, Kubernetes, LXC, and LXD. Implement and optimize container orchestration strategies to ensure efficient resource utilization and application deployment. Develop and maintain automation scripts using Ansible to automate platform deployments, configurations, and maintenance tasks. Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) principles to ensure consistency and repeatability. Manage and maintain Ceph storage services, ensuring data availability, performance, and scalability. Implement and optimize storage configurations to meet application requirements. Perform advanced Linux system administration tasks, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and security hardening. Ensure the platform's operating system is up-to-date and compliant with security standards. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of the platform's architecture, configurations, and procedures. Share knowledge and best practices with team members and other stakeholders. Technical Skills Deep expertise in Red Hat OpenStack and OpenShift platforms. Strong understanding of OpenStack architecture, components, and services. Experience with OpenShift container orchestration and management. Advanced knowledge of Linux system administration, including verified Linux distributions. Proficient in using Docker, Kubernetes, LXC, and LXD for containerization and orchestration. Strong experience with Ansible for automation and configuration management. Expertise in managing Ceph storage services. Understanding of networking concepts and protocols, including virtual networking in OpenStack. Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash. Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in managing and administering OpenStack and OpenShift platforms. Proven experience in designing and implementing cloud infrastructure solutions. Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts and architectures. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Relevant certifications (e.g , Red Hat Certified OpenStack Administrator, Certified Kubernetes Administrator) are a plus (ref:hirist.tech)
