Instrumentation Engineer

Responsibilities:

The Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for ensuring the proper installation, calibration, preventive maintenance, and performance of laboratory instruments and equipment within the test facility. The role ensures compliance with applicable standards, supports technical troubleshooting, and provides guidance to study teams to maintain the reliability and integrity of test results.

Tasks & Activities:

• Ensure instruments and equipment are suitably located, appropriately designed, and of adequate capacity for test facility requirements.
• Prepare and maintain the Master List of Instruments & Equipment, ensuring timely updates and calibration/validation planning
• Conduct regular inspections, cleaning, calibration, and maintenance of instruments as per specifications and SOPs. 
• Maintain detailed records of IQ/OQ/PQ, calibration, preventive maintenance, and cleaning activities
• Ensure calibration traceability to national/international measurement standards wherever applicable
• Provide technical advice and resolve queries raised by study personnel.
• Prepare, review, and implement SOPs for equipment operation, calibration, and maintenance. 
• Develop preventive maintenance strategies to achieve optimal instrument/equipment efficiency.
• Perform and oversee in-house calibration of micropipettes and weighing balances; verify compliance with tolerance limits.
• Lead troubleshooting of instrument breakdowns, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions to restore functionality.

Key Competencies:

• Strong experience with calibration, IQ/OQ/PQ, and preventive maintenance. 
• Knowledge of GLP, GxP, ISO 17025, NABL, or equivalent standards preferred. 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics, Biomedical, Mechanical, or related field. 

Experience:

• 2–5 years’ experience in a pharmaceutical, biotech, research, or testing laboratory environment.
