Job Description

As the Head of Department for Fashion & Textiles at Parul Institute of Design in Vadodara, your primary responsibility will be to provide strategic direction, academic leadership, and operational oversight for the Fashion Design department. Your key roles and responsibilities will include: - Developing and articulating a clear academic vision and strategic plan for the Design department/program, aligning with the university's overall mission and strategic goals. - Leading, mentoring, and evaluating faculty members within the Design department/program to foster their professional growth and development in teaching, research, and service. - Overseeing the development, review, and revision of the design curriculum at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels to ensure alignment with current industry standards and academic best practices. - Managing student advising and mentorship programs, as well as supporting student-led initiatives, design competitions, and extracurricular activities. - Promoting and supporting research activities within the Design department/program by encouraging faculty and student participation in research projects and scholarly activities. Qualifications required for this role include: - A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Design or a closely related field. - Significant experience in teaching at the university level, with a demonstrated commitment to pedagogical innovation and student success. - A strong understanding of current trends and challenges in design education and practice. - Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, conflict management, and collaborative skills with an analytical mindset. Preferred qualifications include relevant experience in Fashion Design with a minimum of 8 years and experience with online and blended learning modalities.
