Job Description:

In general, responsible for R+D activities related to manufacturing and necessary for the support of the manufacturing department and for the scale-up process of new products, including management of the pilot plants, responsible for new raw material validation etc. including responsibility and process optimization from excellence perspective.

Reporting Structure:

Reporting Team: R+D Scientists.

• Production Support / Process Engineering

• Team size: 03 – 04

Reporting To: Head R+D, Market & Technology Development

Responsibilities

A] Organizational:

• Management and mentoring of repartees and group members • Administrative responsibilities for the group (annual budgeting, expense reports, Compass Dialog, etc.)

• Resource planning and management of group member workload

B] Pilot Plant and Scale up:

· Scheduling of the pilot plants and coordination with manufacturing for workforce; key support to new

product introduction.

· Maintaining relationships with production chemists and operators for smooth scale-up process

· Effective teamwork with Product Development group for scale-up of new products

C]Support activities related to manufacturing:

• Primary technical contact for manufacturing

• Troubleshooting and test batches for issues from manufacturing

• Effective teamwork with QC and Technical Support group for customer complaint and quality issues

• Validation of existing raw materials from alternative suppliers

• Primary responsibility for slow-moving inventory and product rectification, with support from Product

Development team

D] Effective use of the Stage Gate process:

• Usage of the Stage Gate process for communication of project process and approvals • Timely updating of NPD and PRS systems for project management • Coordination with appropriate stakeholders for project progress

E] Infrastructure Capability Building:

· Technology capability building

o Adopting to the New technology development and R&D capability

o Analytical ability

o EHS, Sustainability etc.

· R&D Infrastructure

o Lab infrastructure for plant scale depending on existing and new business lines / processes.

· Idea generation and execution

Hiring Manager: VP – Market & Technology Development

Requirements

· MSc. Chemistry / MTech / PhD (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science or related field)

· 15+ years of experience, most in managerial capacity

· Knowledge of stage-gate processes, six sigma and other preferred tools
