The Head - Projects is responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and commissioning of
transmission projects within AESL, ensuring alignment with the organization’s goals of
operational excellence, cost efficiency, and timely delivery. This role is pivotal in driving AESL’s
mission to revolutionize energy delivery through innovative solutions, including smart metering
and green power integration. The incumbent will lead cross-functional teams, foster a culture of
safety and quality, and build strong relationships with government authorities to ensure
seamless project execution.
• Develop and implement comprehensive project plans, incorporating industry benchmarks,
alternative strategies, and contingency measures to ensure project success.
• Drive the execution of transmission projects by monitoring progress against cost, resource,
and timeline benchmarks, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
• Achieve project milestones within approved budgets and timelines by effectively managing
financial and operational resources.
• Standardize project management processes across locations by implementing robust
systems and tools to ensure consistent execution.
• Facilitate project start-up activities, including the creation of tailored project organograms,
alignment of capex plans, contract agreements, and mobilization schedules.
• Foster a culture of safety by enforcing stringent safety protocols and creating a secure work
environment for employees and contractors.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with government authorities, including ROW, state
administration, police, and forest departments, to secure necessary clearances and
approvals.
• Conduct regular reviews with engineering and EPC teams to align on project goals, resolve
issues, and monitor progress.
• Oversee cash flow and cost control measures, ensuring alignment with financial goals and
maintaining project financial efficiency.
• Implement a robust risk management framework to proactively identify, assess, and mitigate
potential project risks.
• Drive technological innovation by integrating advanced tools and systems to enhance project
efficiency and data management.
• Lead and mentor project teams, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment
while promoting continuous learning and development.
• Proven experience of 20-25 years in project management within the power or transmission
sector, with a strong focus on large-scale project planning and execution.
• Demonstrated expertise in enforcing safety and quality standards, with experience
overseeing EPC contractors.
• Strong background in engaging with government authorities, regulatory bodies, and local
administrations to facilitate project approvals and clearances.
• B.E./B.Tech. in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
• MBA or equivalent advanced degree is preferred.
• 20+ years of experience in large-scale EPC project execution within the power transmission
sector.
• Extensive experience in managing cross-functional teams and driving projects to successful
completion within budget and timeline constraints.
Domain Expertise
• In-depth knowledge of power transmission systems, including design, construction, and
commissioning.
• Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in project management and safety
compliance.
• Expertise in managing ROW issues, securing forest clearances, and addressing legal and
regulatory concerns.
Digital & Operational Tools
• Proficiency in project management software and tools such as Primavera, MS Project, or
equivalent.
• Familiarity with digital platforms for risk management, data analytics, and reporting.
• Experience with advanced technological tools for process optimization and data
management in project execution.
Leadership Capabilities
• Proven ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams, fostering a collaborative and
results-driven culture.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with a track record of building and maintaining
relationships with government authorities and regulatory bodies.
• Demonstrated success in managing large-scale budgets and achieving financial efficiency in
project execution.
• Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities, with a focus on innovation and
continuous improvement.
