Job Overview: The Head of Government Business is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the company’s interactions with government entities. This role involves developing strategies to enhance the company's presence and business opportunities within the government sector, managing relationships with key government officials, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive government business strategy to achieve growth and revenue targets. Identify and prioritize new business opportunities within the government sector. Set annual goals and objectives for the government business team. Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with key government stakeholders and decision-makers. Serve as the primary liaison between the company and government officials. Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities with government agencies and departments. Develop proposals, negotiate contracts, and secure agreements with government clients. Compliance and Regulatory Affairs: Ensure all business activities with government entities comply with relevant laws and regulations. Stay updated on changes in government policies and regulations that could impact the business. Work with legal and compliance teams to address regulatory issues. Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the government business team to achieve set objectives. Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team. Provide training and development opportunities for team members. Market Intelligence: Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and government policy changes. Provide strategic insights and recommendations to senior management based on market analysis. Reporting and Analysis: Prepare regular reports on business performance, opportunities, and challenges. Analyze data to identify trends, measure performance, and inform strategic decisions. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Political Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development or sales, with a significant portion in government or public sector. Proven track record of successfully managing government contracts and relationships. Strong understanding of government procurement processes and regulations. Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills. Ability to travel as required. Personal Attributes: Strategic thinker with a proactive and results-oriented approach. Ability to build and maintain relationships with high-level stakeholders. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. High level of integrity and commitment to ethical business practices.
