Head - Legal & Compliance

Role & Responsibilities:

• Serve as the principal legal advisor to the leadership and board.
• Provide legal opinions on business strategies, new products, partnerships, and financial transactions.
• Ensure corporate governance practices meet statutory and regulatory standards.
• Lead compliance programs aligned with RBI, SEBI, or other relevant regulatory bodies.
• Establish and monitor compliance frameworks, internal controls, and audit readiness.
• Oversee regulatory filings, inspections, audits, and responses.
• Identify legal and regulatory risks and recommend mitigation plans.
• Ensure watertight documentation and legal safeguards.
• Manage litigation strategy, external counsel, and dispute resolution.
• Oversee arbitration, consumer complaints, regulatory notices, and legal claims.
• Develop and enforce company-wide compliance policies - AML, KYC, data privacy, whistleblower, governance, and code of conduct.
• Work closely with Risk, Finance, Operations, HR, Product, Technology, and Sales teams.
• Ensure all business functions operate in alignment with legal and compliance requirements.
• Build constructive relationships with regulators, law firms, industry bodies, auditors, and government authorities.
• Stay updated on emerging regulations and industry standards.

Candidate Profile:

• LLB / LLM with 12+ years of experience in Legal & Compliance roles in Banking, NBFC, FinTech, Asset Management, Insurance, or other financial services sectors is essential.
• Strong understanding of financial regulations, corporate law, and risk management frameworks.
• Proven experience in handling high-stakes negotiations, regulatory audits, and litigation.
• Experience in leading legal and compliance teams.
