Job Description Key Responsibilities 1. Strategic Leadership and Vision: Develop and execute a long-term strategic roadmap to make the COE a global leader in composite technology, aligning projects with both national priorities and industry demands. Establish the COE as a financially self-sustained entity by generating revenue through the commercialization of technologies and scaling up R&D projects. Drive efforts to secure government and industry funding for transformative projects that focus on critical technology development, import substitution, and commercial viability. 2. Innovation and Ideation: Lead ideation for high-impact R&D projects aimed at addressing industry challenges in aerospace, drones, mass transport, automotive, and defence sectors. Identify and propose innovative solutions that will be monetized through commercialization, licensing, and technology transfer, ensuring financial growth for the COE. Ensure that R&D initiatives are forward-thinking, with the potential for large-scale industry adoption and revenue generation. 3. Project Management and Execution Excellence: Lead the planning and execution of government and industry-funded projects, ensuring they are completed within scope, budget, and timelines. Implement a commercialization strategy for R&D outputs, positioning technologies for market introduction and licensing agreements to generate sustained revenue. Industry Collaboration and Partnership Building: Forge and maintain strategic partnerships with industry leaders, government agencies, and academic institutions to advance the COE s mission and financial objectives. Build collaborative frameworks with organizations such as ISRO, BEL, and key industry players like Arvind Ltd. and Tata Autocomp Systems for the co-development and commercialization of technologies. Negotiate and manage contracts, agreements, and MOUs that create avenues for technology licensing, joint ventures, and revenue-sharing models. 5. Revenue Generation and Financial Sustainability: Develop a strategic approach to ensure the COE's financial sustainability by maximizing revenue generation through industry collaborations, technology commercialization, and consulting services. Create a portfolio of intellectual property (IP) that can be monetized through licensing, patents, and industry partnerships, contributing to the COE s financial self-reliance. Identify new revenue streams through R&D outputs and consultancy services, positioning the COE as a leader in offering unique solutions to industry challenges. 6. Team Development and Capacity Building: Build and lead a high-performing team of scientists, engineers, and technical experts, promoting a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning. Develop talent through internship programs, training initiatives, and knowledgesharing sessions to build capacity within the COE and support long-term sustainability. Align the team s efforts with the COE s vision of becoming a financially self-sustaining leader in composites technology. 7. Operational and Technical Excellence: Ensure the efficient operation of high-tech equipment, such as autoclaves, optimizing utilization to support research, development, and commercial projects. Oversee the labs compliance with international standards, ensuring the COE maintains its position as a trusted partner for testing and development services. Continuously drive improvements in R&D processes to maximize project output and contribute to the financial success of the COE. 8. Knowledge Leadership and Dissemination: Promote the COE s capabilities through high-profile publications, presentations, and participation in international conferences. Organize training programs, workshops, and industry events to share knowledge, strengthen industry partnerships, and showcase the COE s unique offerings. Drive strategic communication efforts to position the COE as a thought leader in composites innovation, attracting new funding and revenue-generating opportunities
