GEL is setting up a greenfield Integrated Steel Plant at Bhadrawati (Chandrapur) in the state of Maharashtra, having capacity of 0.4 MTPA finished steel, along with 1.2 MTPA Iron Ore Pellet Plant, 65000 NM3/Hr of Syn Gas based on Coal Gasification Technology, and other auxiliary units along with these capacities.

Role Description

The Head of Pellet Plant will be responsible for leading the end-to-end project execution

and subsequent operation of Greta Energy’s Iron Ore Pelletizing Plant. The incumbent must

demonstrate strong expertise in greenfield/brownfield project execution—covering design

review, erection, commissioning, and stabilization—and then transition to deliver safe,

reliable, and cost-effective operations. The role demands techno-commercial acumen, deep

process knowledge, and proven leadership skills to integrate the pellet plant seamlessly into

the DRI and steelmaking value chain.

Key Responsibilities

 Lead the entire pellet plant project cycle including basic & detail engineering review,

procurement coordination, erection, commissioning, and performance guarantee

testing.

 Ensure strict adherence to budget, timelines, and quality standards during project

execution.

 Collaborate with internal stakeholders, EPC partners, licensors, consultants, and

contractors to resolve technical and execution challenges.

 Develop and implement operational readiness plans including manpower

recruitment, SOPs, and training before start-up.

 After commissioning, take full ownership of day-to-day plant operations, ensuring

smooth transition from project to steady-state production.

 Drive maintenance planning, predictive systems, and spare management for high

plant availability.

 Enhance process efficiency through innovation, technology adoption, and

continuous improvement programs.

 Ensure adherence to all safety, health, and environmental regulations across

construction and operations phases.

 Build a strong zero-incident safety culture.

 Maintain ISO, BIS, and other quality certifications.

People & Leadership

 Build and mentor a strong multidisciplinary team from construction through

operations.

 Drive knowledge transfer and continuous skill development for engineers,

supervisors, and operators.

 Foster a high-performance, safety-first culture.

Desired Skills & Competencies

 Proven track record in project execution, commissioning, and transition into

operations of pellet plants.

 Strong knowledge of pelletizing technologies (travelling grate/straight grate/rotary

kiln).

 Leadership ability to manage large multidisciplinary teams during both project and

operational phases.

 Commercial acumen with focus on efficiency, cost optimization, and sustainability.

 Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills.
