Job Title: Senior Payroll Officer Reporting: Chief People Officer, Payroll Consultant/Senior Manager, Payroll Manager Experience: 5+ years of strong knowledge of end-to-end payroll for Australia 1-2 years experience using iChris/iChris21 Intermediate Excel skills with knowledge of VLOOK Up and Pivot Tables Previous experience with time and attendance systems Key Responsibilities: To supervise the junior payroll team members and ensuring high quality and efficient payroll processing for AU and NZ Compile and maintain all necessary payroll information by supporting the payroll manager with preparation, completing reports, and maintaining appropriate records Participating in project work focusing on process improvement, compliance and team upskilling and development Facilitating training for venue managers, directors and head chefs around the time and attendance system or any other payroll related topics Key Duties: Supervise and assist with administering weekly payrolls, weekly and month-end reconciliations and processing support as required Check and audit payrolls, ensuring legislative and award compliance, including compliance for all applicable taxes and superannuation requirements, together with all external reporting (including Single Touch Payroll submissions) Ensure all payroll accounts are balanced and any payroll discrepancies are resolved Support with internal reporting requirements such as weekly venue labour costs, annual leave, days in lieu, head office salary costs and ad hoc reports as required Manage weekly internal compliance reporting, including time & attendance records and compliance with related policies (such as biometric scanning, shift length and breaks) Review of calculations of termination payments Review of calculation and payment of any top-ups required under Better Off Overall Tests for annualised salary staff Payment and reconciliation of bonus payments Calculation, payment and reconciliation of payroll tax and group tax Administration, calculation, payment and reconciliation of all superannuation contributions Liaising with management and staff regarding pay enquiries Preparation and reconciliation of monthly General Ledger wage-related journals, liaising with Finance team as required Preparation and reconciliation of payment summaries (as required) Develop and update payroll reference materials, policies and procedures for payroll team members to use across all applicable systems Manage systems, liaise with external system providers, perform system upgrades and development testing and implementation Maintain appropriate staff records (to be retained for 7 years) Liaise with HR regarding new hires, terminations, remuneration and conditions of service Liaise with HR and WH&S Manager regarding workers compensation payments Maintain payroll records by reviewing and approving changes in employee details, job titles, award levels, exemptions, insurance coverage, savings or other deductions and venue/department transfers Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by ensuring the team keeps information confidential Ad hoc reporting such as the WGEA report Payroll inbox support and ensuring accurate payroll advice is being provided to operational managers and employees within a timely manner Project work with support from the Payroll Consultant (examples include): STP2 roll out- Due 30 October 2023 iChris21 system improvements and health check AU Pay Run Checklist- Review of processes, areas of improvement and addition of workflows with more detail TANDA upgrades and Award compliance health checks Team development- Upskilling, training, and knowledge transfer/cross training How to apply? Payroll system configuration & implementation — setting up pay elements, deduction codes, tax configurations, etc. Troubleshooting experience — resolving payroll-related system or data errors. Experience in a PEO or HR outsourcing environment preferred. Technical Tools: Workday PeopleSoft HCM systems (generic or specific) SAP (especially SAP Payroll) Skills: Strong analytical and troubleshooting ability. Payroll compliance knowledge (US, state-specific rules). UAT and configuration testing experience. Collaboration skills for working across HR, Tech, and Finance teams.
