Job Title: Geologist
Department: Raw Material & Mining Operations
Reports To: Head – Mining/Raw Material
Role Overview: The Geologist will be responsible for conducting geological surveys, analyzing geological data, and delivering insights to optimize resource utilization. The role supports sustainable mining practices and ensures a reliable supply of raw materials for cement production.
Educational Qualifications: Essential: Master’s Degree in Geology or related field.
Experience Required:3 to 8 years in geological exploration, mining operations, or raw material sourcing, preferably in the cement or mining industry.
Purpose of the Role: Full accountability for geological surveys, resource assessment, and raw material optimization for cement manufacturing.
Promote environmental sustainability while ensuring operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities: Conduct geological surveys to identify potential raw material sources for cement production.
Perform sampling, testing, and data analysis to evaluate the quality and quantity of raw materials (e.g., limestone, laterite).
Utilize geological mapping tools and software for resource modeling and assessment.
Collaborate with mining, production, and environmental teams to develop sustainable extraction strategies.
Provide geological insights for resource planning, mine development, and long-term operations.
Ensure adherence to environmental regulations, statutory norms, and sustainability standards.
Develop and participate in mine reclamation and closure plans to minimize environmental impact.
Monitor and improve geological processes, contributing to cost reduction and process efficiency.
Prepare geological reports, resource statements, and assist in regulatory submissions.
Technical Skills: Expertise in geological survey techniques, mapping, sampling, and interpretation.
Proficiency in geological software like Surpac, Minex, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, or similar.
Strong understanding of cement raw material characteristics, quality standards, and parameters.
Knowledge of environmental regulations, sustainable mining practices, and statutory compliance.
Familiarity with GPS, GIS tools, and geological modeling systems.
