An GM/AGM of Quality in the investment casting industry oversees all quality assurance and control functions, ensuring products meet stringent customer and industry specifications such as ISO 9001 and potential aerospace standards like AS 9100/2015,IATF 16949. They are responsible for implementing quality management systems, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and leading a cross-functional quality team.
Roles and Responsibilities:-
· Strategic Planning: Develop and execute comprehensive quality management strategies and plans that align with business objectives.
· Quality Management Systems (QMS): Establish, implement, maintain, and improve the QMS (e.g., ISO 9001,IATF) to ensure compliance with all regulatory and customer requirements.
· Quality Assurance & Control: Lead quality assurance and control functions across all stages of the investment casting process (wax, coating, melting, fettling, heat treatment, and final dispatch).
· Standards and Compliance: Ensure adherence to industry standards, customer specifications, and safety/environmental regulations. This includes preparing for and leading external buyer and third-party audits.
· Inspection and Testing: Oversee product inspections and testing (including Non-Destructive Testing like UT, MPI, DPI as required) to monitor casting defects and ensure product quality.
· Problem Solving: Conduct root cause analysis (using tools like 5 Why, Fishbone) and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for non-conformities and customer complaints.
· Continuous Improvement: Drive lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and minimize defects (aiming for "zero-defect" manufacturing).
· Leadership and Training: Manage, mentor, and guide the quality team (engineers, inspectors, lab technicians), developing training programs to enhance quality awareness across the organization.
· Collaboration: Liaise with production, engineering, sales, and customer service teams to ensure smooth processes and address customer quality issues effectively.
Qualifications and Skills
· Education: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Metallurgical preferred) or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
· Experience: Typically requires 15+ years of progressive experience in quality management roles within a foundry or investment casting environment, with significant experience in a leadership position.
Technical Knowledge:
· In-depth knowledge of investment casting processes, materials, and equipment.
· Strong understanding of metallurgical principles, quality control systems, and data analysis.
· Proficiency with precision measuring tools, blueprints, and quality tools/methodologies.
· Knowledge of relevant quality certifications and standards (ISO 9001,IATF 16949).
Core Competencies:
· Exceptional leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills; ability to make data-driven decisions and drive results. Professional certifications (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, ASQ certifications) are highly valued.
