General Manager - Operations

Job Description

To lead, manage, and optimize all production operations at the Vapi manufacturing unit, ensuring maximum efficiency, quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness while meeting production targets and maintaining compliance with statutory regulations. 1. Production Planning & Control Oversee and implement daily, weekly, and monthly production plans aligned with sales forecasts and inventory targets. Ensure optimum utilization of machinery, manpower, and raw materials. Monitor and control production KPIs (output, downtime, yield, etc.). 2. Process & Quality Management Implement process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce waste. Ensure strict adherence to quality control standards and procedures. Coordinate with QA/QC teams to address quality issues and initiate corrective actions. 3. Maintenance Coordination Coordinate with the Maintenance Head for preventive and breakdown maintenance to ensure uninterrupted operations. Monitor equipment performance and initiate modernization/upgradation projects as necessary. 4. Manpower Management Lead and develop a strong production team; ensure training and skill enhancement. Monitor workforce productivity and maintain high morale and discipline on the shop floor. Ensure compliance with labour laws and company policies. 5. Cost & Inventory Control Monitor production costs and implement cost-saving initiatives. Manage raw material and finished goods inventory in coordination with procurement and sales teams. 6. EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) Ensure adherence to all environmental and safety regulations. Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement. 7. Reporting & Coordination Provide regular reports on production, quality, and operational efficiency to senior management. Liaise with other departments like procurement, sales, logistics, and HR for smooth operations. Key Requirements: Education: B.E./B.Tech in Paper Technology or equivalent (mandatory) MBA/PGDM in Operations (preferred) Experience: Minimum 15–20 years of experience in manufacturing, with at least 10 years in a senior production leadership role in the paper industry. Skills: Strong knowledge of paper production processes (Kraft, Duplex, Writing/Printing, etc.) Proven ability to manage large teams and complex operations. Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
