We work closely with rice millers, farmers and third-party suppliers to source and supply high-quality rice from rice producing countries in Asia and the Americas. We’ve established key partnerships, such as with the Thai Rice Department and the German development agency (GIZ), to promote sustainable rice cultivation. Through these partnerships we work closely with rice farmers to implement the Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP) Standard to improve their livelihoods and reduce environmental impacts of rice farming. We’re world’s first and now the largest sustainable rice producer and supplier. We lead the world’s largest Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP) project in Thailand.

The position encompasses end-to-end supply chain management—from procurement through processing, quality assurance, and overall P&L for the business. The incumbent will be accountable for driving revenue, profitability, and growth for the basmati business.

Key responsibilities include scaling operations, expanding the customer and employee base, and enhancing both top-line and bottom-line performance. The role demands close oversight of budgets and costs, setting ambitious growth targets, and managing all operational facets.

Key Deliverables

As a General Manager, incumbent will have to set out the vision for the business and take full end to end responsibility for its growth, sustainability, and delivery:

• Strategic responsibility for arriving at the best-fit strategy for the profit-center
• Identify and open up new markets, winning business from new customers and increasing market share from existing customers. Build leadership position in through effective Sales & Distribution and market segmentation. Expand footprint
• The incumbent will have to manage the operations of the factories, ensure quality, process efficiencies, and manage the operations matrix across the depth and width of the unit. Work on achieving all operational efficiency benchmarks.
• Completing the budgeted commitments on volumes, GC, overheads, EBIDTA and PAT.
• Play the role of Olam Agri Rice face in the complex regulatory environment. The incumbent must manage the complex regulatory and competitive environment, constantly keeping in touch with the important players to keep themself abreast of the latest in the sector.
• Bring in innovation and a high level of engagement with all key stakeholders to build on sustainability issues critical to this industry.
• Development of manpower, along with mentoring and career-pathing of the team members, the incumbent also must ensure that the career paths are perpetuated suitably down the staff line.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, marketing, or related field; MBA preferred.
• Proven experience in Leading & managing teams, Key Account Management, Sales or Distribution roles in emerging markets
• Exposure to Micro & Macroeconomic factors of the business environment
• Strong conceptual and analytical bend of mind to operate in an international business environment
• The incumbent should have proven experience as a “self-starter” with a strong element of dynamism and the ability to move fast and get things done. He/She should have the stature and the maturity that commands the respect of his peers.
