Job Description

A Freight Broker acts as a key intermediary between shippers (clients) and carriers (transport companies). Your primary responsibility will be to identify, negotiate, and contract with carriers, while also sourcing and managing business from shippers. You’ll ensure shipments are arranged efficiently, communication is seamless, and both shippers and carriers are satisfied throughout the transport process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrier & Shipper Management
  • Source and vet reputable carriers to meet client needs.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with both shippers and carriers.
  • Negotiate rates and terms with carriers and shippers to ensure profitability and service excellence.
  • Load Coordination & Booking
  • Obtain shipping quotes, create and book loads with carriers.
  • Coordinate pickup and drop-off schedules.
  • Monitor freight transit, track shipments, and proactively resolve issues or delays.
  • Sales & Business Development
  • Generate new business: identify prospects, cold call, and build a pipeline of shippers / clients.
  • Present freight solutions, prepare and send quotes to potential clients.
  • Achieve sales targets / revenue goals (depending on company structure).
  • Documentation & Compliance
  • Prepare and manage key freight documents (e.g., bills of lading).
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Maintain accurate records: shipment details, rate confirmations, invoices, claims, etc.
  • Customer Service & Issue Resolution
  • Act as a point of contact for both shippers and carriers, addressing service gaps or escalations.
  • Investigate and resolve claims, damages, or logistics issues.
  • Provide timely status updates to clients on their shipments.
  • Market Analysis & Strategy
  • Stay up to date with freight market trends, pricing dynamics, and capacity fluctuations.
  • Analyse lane profitability and adjust strategies accordingly.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: High school diploma / GED required; Bachelor’s in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: 1–5+ years in freight brokerage, logistics sales, or transportation operations.
  • Skills:
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and multitasking.
  • Analytical mindset to evaluate cost, routing, and carrier performance.
  • Sales / business development experience (prospecting, lead generation).
  • Proficiency with technology: TMS (Transportation Management Systems), load boards, CRM, Microsoft Office.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
