Job Summary
The Field Sales Team Lead will be responsible for supervising and guiding a team of Sales Executives to achieve sales targets, expand market reach, and ensure effective distribution of FMCG products in the assigned territory. This role demands strong leadership, market understanding, and the ability to build strong trade relationships.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Management & Leadership
Lead, train, motivate, and monitor the performance of Field Sales Executives.
Conduct daily meetings, route planning, and field coaching.
Ensure team members adhere to company policies and sales processes.
Set individual targets and track team productivity.
2. Sales & Target Achievement
Drive secondary and primary sales to achieve monthly and quarterly targets.
Analyze market potential and implement strategies to increase sales volume.
Monitor competitor activities and share market insights with management.
3. Market Coverage & Distribution
Ensure effective coverage of all retailers, wholesalers, and distributors in assigned zones.
Strengthen distribution networks by onboarding new retailers/distributors if required.
Ensure product availability, visibility, and placement across outlets.
4. Reporting & Data Management
Prepare and share daily/weekly sales reports, beat plans, and market feedback.
Track team performance through CRM/field tools and ensure accurate data entry.
Present key findings, challenges, and opportunities to senior management.
5. Relationship Management
Maintain strong relationships with distributors, retailers, and key trade partners.
Resolve distributor issues related to stock, payments, and claims.
Conduct trade promotions, product launches, and retail activation activities.
6. Training & Development
Provide continuous on-the-job training to team members on selling skills, market execution, and product knowledge.
Key Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in any discipline; MBA preferred.
2–5years of FMCG field sales experience, including at least 1–2 years in a team lead/supervisory role.
Strong understanding of FMCG market dynamics and distribution channels.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
Ability to analyze data and prepare reports.
Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory.
