About the Role

Designer cum Merchandiser

Key Responsibilities

Design Development

  • Research global fashion trends, fabrics, silhouettes, and trims to create relevant seasonal collections.
  • Develop mood boards, color stories, and design concepts aligned with buyer direction or brand identity.
  • Create design sketches, tech packs, and artwork files using Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop, Clo-3d
  • Work with sampling and production teams to ensure accurate execution of design intent.
  • Manage end-to-end sample development — from fabric sourcing and trims selection to fit approvals.
  • Coordinate with pattern masters, sampling tailors, and embroidery teams to ensure timely and quality sample delivery.
  • Maintain detailed sample trackers, approvals, and feedback records.
  • Support costing discussions by providing inputs on fabric/trim choices and design efficiencies.

Sampling Merchandising

  • Collaborate with marketing teams for market trend insights.
  • Present new design ideas, fabric options, and sample updates effectively.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain all design and development records — tech packs, design sheets, sample trackers, and communication logs.
  • Participate in weekly review meetings to track sampling progress and buyer feedback.

Requirements

  • Degree/Diploma in Fashion Design.
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role within an export house or fashion manufacturing setup.
  • Strong understanding of garment design, pattern making, and fabric behavior (both woven & knitwear).
  • Proficiency in

    Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint), Canva, Clo-3d

    .
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to balance creativity with commercial viability and production feasibility.
