We are seeking a hands on Excel Technical Consultant who blends advanced Excel and VBA development with solution architecture awareness. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of technical execution and business impact not just building Excel solutions, but ensuring they are performant across Citrix, Azure, cloud laptops, and desktops.
This is not an infrastructure role. The focus is on Excel solution development, optimization, and user enablement in enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
Excel and VBA Development: Design, build, and optimize complex Excel models, Power Query routines, and VBA macros.
Solution Architecture: Analyze Excel workload patterns and recommend environment sizing such as vCPU, vRAM, Citrix, Azure, and cloud setups.
Business Engagement: Collaborate with business users to understand needs and deliver practical, scalable Excel solutions.
Documentation and Training: Create user guides, best practices, and deliver coaching to technical and non-technical users.
Continuous Improvement: Gather feedback, monitor performance, and iterate solutions for better user experience and business outcomes.
Primary Skills (Must-Have)
Advanced Excel Development: Deep expertise in formulas, pivot tables, and data modeling
VBA Programming: Strong experience writing, debugging, and optimizing VBA
Power Query and Power Pivot: Data transformation and modeling using Power Query
Performance Optimization: Troubleshooting slow workbooks, reducing file size, and improving responsiveness
Solution Architecture Awareness: Understanding of Citrix, Azure Virtual Desktop, and cloud-hosted Excel environments
Business Analysis: Ability to translate business needs into Excel-based solutions
User Enablement: Coaching, training, and documentation for Excel users
Excel 2016 and Microsoft 365 Expertise: Familiarity with modern Excel features and compatibility issues
Secondary Skills (Good-to-Have)
Insurance or Finance Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with workflows and data in insurance or financial services
Legacy Excel Modernization: Experience refactoring old Excel models and VBA code
Cloud Environment Awareness: Understanding of how Excel behaves in Citrix, Azure, and cloud laptops
User Segmentation and Sizing: Ability to recommend environment specs for light, medium, and power users
Stakeholder Communication: Ability to simplify technical concepts for business leaders
