Environmental Health and Safety Executive

Position Title: EHS Executive

Department: Environment, Health & Safety

Location: Brammadesan, Tindivanam, Tamil Nadu

Reporting To: Factory Manager

Position Objective:

To ensure compliance with all applicable Environment, Health, and Safety laws, regulations, and

company policies; implement effective EHS systems in the food manufacturing plant; and foster a culture of safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Statutory Compliance

• Ensure compliance with Factories Act, 1948, Environment Protection Act, Water and Air Pollution Control Acts, Hazardous Waste Rules, and Occupational Health & Safety regulations.

• Maintain up-to-date records, licenses, and returns related to PCB (Pollution Control Board), Factory Inspectorate, and Labour Department.

• Coordinate with statutory authorities for inspections, audits, and renewals.

2. Health & Safety Management

• Conduct risk assessments, job safety analysis (JSA), and HIRA (Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment).

• Manage work permit system

• Develop and implement Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) for food processing machinery, Utilities, and material handling equipment.

• Conduct safety induction and refresher training for employees and contractors.

• Monitor use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and ensure availability as per risk matrix.

• Lead investigations of incidents, near misses, and unsafe acts/conditions and recommend corrective actions.

3. Environmental Management

• Monitor and control wastewater, solid waste, air emissions, and noise levels.

• Ensure effective operation of ETP/STP (Effluent/Sewage Treatment Plants).

• Coordinate with PCB for consent applications and renewals (CTO, CTE).

• Promote initiatives for energy conservation, water management, and waste minimization.

4. Food Safety & Hygiene Coordination

• Support the Quality and Food Safety team in maintaining hygiene, pest control, and safe chemical handling as per FSSAI and ISO 22000/BRC standards.

• Ensure safe storage and disposal of cleaning chemicals, oils, and lubricants.

5. Emergency Preparedness

• Develop and maintain Onsite Emergency Plan and Disaster Management Plan.

• Conduct regular mock drills.

• Maintain fire protection systems, fire extinguishers, and first-aid arrangements.

6. Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain all EHS records and submit periodic reports to management and statutory authorities.

• Prepare monthly EHS performance reports (incidents, training hours, waste, energy, etc.).

• Lead internal EHS audits and coordinate external audits (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001).

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelors degree / Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical / Chemical / Environmental preferred).

• Post Diploma in Industrial Safety (recognized under Factories Act) mandatory.

• 3-5 years of EHS experience in food processing / FMCG / Agro processing industries.

• Knowledge of ISO 14001 (EMS) standards preferred.

• Suitable female candidate preferred as the work force is mostly women

Key Skills & Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of Indian EHS legislation.

• Tamil language proficiency

• Proficient in hazard analysis and root cause investigation.

• Good communication and training skills.

• Hands-on experience with firefighting, PPE management, and ETP operations.

• Proactive, organized, and safety-driven mindset.

Work Environment:

• Plant-based role; requires daily shop-floor presence.
