Job Title: Onshore Workover & Well Services Engineer


Job Location: Kharsang (Onshore Oil & Gas Field / Production Site)


Reporting To:

Operationally reporting to Drilling Head or Workover & Well Services Superintendent at Base and administratively to Field Production Manager/Asset Manager


Role Purpose:

To plan, coordinate, and supervise workover and well intervention operations on producing/new wells to restore, sustain, or enhance well productivity and integrity. The engineer, as a single point authority, ensures that all workover and well service activities are executed safely, efficiently, within budget, and in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

Planning & Engineering

  • Prepare detailed workover and well service programs, including well schematics, equipment requirements, and operational procedures.
  • Draw up each well’s detailed workover plan with full emphasis on safety, well control, and technical integrity — ensuring that the plan is reviewed and approved by Subsurface, Logging, and Drilling Heads prior to start of execution. Also, to ensure that any subsequent change in plans are drawn up after due consultations and approved as amendments.
  • Support Surface/Subsurface teams in Evaluation of wells to identify suitable candidates for workover or intervention.
  • Coordinate with reservoir, production, and drilling teams to align workover objectives with field development and production targets.
  • Prepare cost estimates, AFEs (Authorization for Expenditure), and monitor expenditures against approved budgets.
  • Review historical well data, schematics, and prior interventions to optimize operational planning.


Operations Management

  • Supervise day-to-day workover rig and well services operations at site.
  • Ensure rig and well service crews follow approved programs, safety protocols, and operational standards.
  • Monitor and control critical well parameters (pressure, fluid levels, BOP status, etc.) throughout the operation.
  • Coordinate with logistics, materials, and maintenance teams to ensure timely availability of equipment, tubulars, and consumables.
  • Oversee third-party service providers (logging, coiled tubing, wireline, cementing, etc.) and ensure performance compliance.

Rig & Crew Management

  • Manage the assigned workover rig and its crew, ensuring effective utilization and high equipment uptime.
  • Conduct pre-job safety meetings, toolbox talks, and daily operational briefings.
  • Verify crew competence and training compliance in line with company standards.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of rig equipment, BOPs, and well control systems.
  • Approve daily rig reports, time sheets, and operational logs.

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce company HSE policies and well control procedures at all times.
  • Lead hazard identification, risk assessments, and ensure implementation of mitigation measures.
  • Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, environmental standards, and company well integrity policies.

Technical Reporting & Post-Job Analysis

  • Maintain accurate and timely well activity reports, daily operations summaries, and cost tracking.
  • Conduct post-job analysis to capture lessons learned and recommend operational improvements.
  • Update well schematics and documentation following completion of each job.
  • Prepare Well wise Workover report on completion of each workover /Well intervention Deployment.
  • Support performance reviews and KPI reporting for workover efficiency and rig utilization.




Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent discipline.
  • 5–10 years’ experience in well workover, completion, and/or well services operations (preferably onshore).
  • Strong knowledge of well integrity, completions, downhole tools, and intervention techniques.
  • Proven track record of managing contractors and workover crews effectively.
  • Certification in Well Control (IWCF / IADC) for Workover and Well Services.
  • Familiarity with relevant software tools (WellView, WellCat, or similar) will be preferable.
