Job Title: Robotics & Automation Engineer (Body Shop)
Department: Maintenance / Engineering
Job Purpose: To ensure the smooth operation, programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance of industrial robots (Fanuc/ABB) and automation systems (PLC, HMI, SCADA) used in body shop applications such as welding, material handling, and assembly processes.
Key Responsibilities: Robotics (Fanuc / ABB):Programming, calibration, and troubleshooting of industrial robots.
Manage robotic applications including:
Spot welding
Material handling
Sealant application
CO₂ welding
Brazing / Laser brazing
Sash correction
Hemming
Door fitment and other body shop applications.
Diagnose and resolve issues related to robot periphery and integration with production systems.
PLC, HMI, SCADA, and Networking (Allen Bradley / Rockwell):Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs for automation systems.
HMI programming, configuration, and troubleshooting.
Manage SCADA systems for monitoring and control.
Handle communication networks including DeviceNet, Ethernet/IP, and fault diagnosis for network-related issues.
Maintenance of Body Shop Equipment: Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain:
Adaptive Welding Controllers – BOSCH
Robotic Servo Guns – OBARA
Perform routine maintenance to minimize downtime and improve equipment efficiency.
Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance on robotics and automation equipment.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s / Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Robotics, or relevant engineering field.
Experience:3 to 8 years of hands-on experience in robotics (Fanuc/ABB), PLC (Allen Bradley), and body shop equipment maintenance in an automotive or manufacturing environment.
Skills & Competencies: Technical Skills: Strong expertise in robot programming and troubleshooting (Fanuc / ABB).
Hands-on knowledge of PLC, HMI programming, SCADA systems (Allen Bradley / Rockwell).
Proficient in Device .Net, Ethernet/IP communications, and network troubleshooting.
Understanding of adaptive welding controllers (BOSCH) and servo gun operations (OBARA).
Behavioral Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good communication and teamwork abilities.
High attention to detail and a proactive approach to equipment reliability.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced production environment.
