1. JOB PURPOSE

The role is responsible for managing regulatory, operational, and forecasting & scheduling (F&S) aspects of renewable energy assets to ensure compliance with evolving power sector reforms. The position involves close coordination with government authorities, regulators, DISCOMs, transmission agencies, and internal stakeholders to mitigate regulatory risks, avoid penalties, and ensure uninterrupted operations and maintenance (O&M) of renewable assets.

The role also oversees forecasting and scheduling activities to improve accuracy, minimize deviation penalties, and align operations with the Indian Electricity Act and regulations issued by central and state regulatory bodies.

2. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

A. Regulatory & Policy Advisory

• Track and review regulations, tariff orders, and circulars issued by DISCOMs, SLDCs, SERCs, CERC, CEA, and other statutory bodies.
• Analyze regulatory developments and assess their applicability and impact on renewable operations.
• Identify gaps, risks, and compliance requirements arising from new or amended regulations.
• Prepare executive summaries of regulatory updates for internal circulation.
• Coordinate with legal and regulatory teams to understand implications and ensure timely compliance.
• Prepare draft responses, representations, and correspondence to government authorities in consultation with legal teams.
• Benchmark regulatory positions by gathering inputs from other IPPs, developers, OEMs, and industry associations.

B. Regulatory Compliance & Stakeholder Coordination

• Maintain an inventory of regulatory matters across renewable assets and conduct periodic reviews with legal and regulatory teams.
• Ensure compliance with Electricity Act provisions, CERC/SERC guidelines, tariff orders, DSM regulations, LVRT norms, and other applicable frameworks.
• Monitor load shedding, forecasting deviations, and scheduling issues, and engage with SLDCs, STUs, TRANSCOs, DISCOMs, and CEIG officials as required.
• Participate in industry forums, discussions, and meetings to represent organizational views and seek regulatory clarifications or amendments.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including other IPPs, to present consolidated viewpoints on high-impact regulatory matters.

C. Forecasting & Scheduling (F&S)

• Oversee forecasting and scheduling operations to ensure compliance with DSM regulations.
• Maintain DSM penalties within defined thresholds for wind and solar assets.
• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly DSM analysis and de-pooling calculations.
• Organize regular meetings with Qualified Coordinating Agencies (QCAs) to track performance improvements.
• Review and verify RE DSM bills and ensure timely processing.
• Implement improvements in forecasting methodologies, including advanced weather models.
• Generate periodic reports and dashboards for monitoring F&S performance.

D. Reporting & Management Presentations

• Prepare monthly reports on regulatory and compliance status across assets on a pan-India basis.
• Develop presentations, case studies, and briefing notes for senior management and board-level discussions.
• Provide technical and regulatory inputs to legal teams and external counsels for drafting petitions and regulatory submissions.
• Review and comment on draft petitions and regulatory filings as required.

E. Documentation & Knowledge Management

• Maintain asset-wise repositories for regulatory communications, petitions, orders, and approvals.
• Ensure systematic documentation and traceability of regulatory records and correspondence.
• Support the renewable operations function with periodic reports and documentation.

F. Internal & External Stakeholder Management

• Build strong working relationships with internal teams including operations, legal, finance, procurement, and project teams.
• Liaise with government bodies, regulators, lenders, inspectors, and environmental authorities to support audits, inspections, and site visits.
• Maintain effective relationships with OEMs, IPPs, regulatory bodies, and DISCOMs to support smooth operations and regulatory implementation.

4. SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

Educational Qualifications

• B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering

Functional Skills & Competencies

• Strong understanding of renewable energy O&M processes
• In-depth knowledge of forecasting & scheduling and DSM mechanisms
• Sound understanding of regulatory and contractual frameworks
• Familiarity with Electricity Act and central/state regulatory regulations
• Ability to draft regulatory correspondence and support petition preparation
• Strong analytical, presentation, and communication skills
• Commercial awareness of renewable energy business operations

5. EXPERIENCE

• 6–8 years of experience

  in the renewable energy sector
• Prior experience in O&M of wind or solar assets

• 3–4 years of hands-on experience

  managing forecasting & scheduling, DSM, and regulatory matters
