Deputy Manager – Design & Development (Solenoid Valves | Electromagnetic Products)

Job Purpose

To support the design and development of automotive Electromagnetic Product / Solenoid valves by translating customer requirements into robust, manufacturable designs. The role focuses on detailed engineering execution, Concept designing, 3D/2D modelling, identify the testing requirements technical documentation, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure product quality and timely delivery.

Product Design Activities

• Execute detailed design of Electromagnetic Products / solenoid valves, including 3D CAD modelling, 2D drawing preparation, and tolerance analysis.
• Understand the customer SOR & prepare the concept design as per customer requirements.
• Perform design calculations to ensure product functionality.
• Experience in Hydraulic valves preferred.
• Develop and optimize valve components focusing on magnetic circuit, sealing, and material selection.
• Support design validation activities including DFMEA, DVP&R planning, and prototype testing.
• Ensure designs comply with DFM/DFA principles and automotive standards (IATF 16949).
• Prepare technical documents such as specifications, BOMs, and test plans for internal and customer use.
• Work closely with product managers, validation engineers, quality, and manufacturing teams to resolve design issues and support production readiness.
• Assist in customer technical discussions by providing design clarifications and updates.
• Support RFQ evaluations by providing technical feasibility and design input.
• Manage own design tasks and ensure on-time delivery aligned with project milestones.
• Track and report progress on design deliverables, issues, and improvements.
• Contribute to problem-solving efforts such as root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Maintain design standards and adhere to company processes and documentation norms.
• Think out of the box to prepare robust & innovative design of the product.
• Ability to identify, analyse, and resolve complex issues/Problems effectively.
• Handle multiple projects.
• Identify the VA/VE opportunities.

Product Design Activities

• Work closely with the design and development team, supporting senior managers and project leads.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including validation, quality, manufacturing, and procurement to ensure seamless product development.
• Participate actively in team meetings, design reviews, and problem-solving workshops.
• Support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives within the team.

Functional Competencies

• Strong experience in Electromagnetic Product / S

  olenoid valve design and development

  for automotive applications.
• Proficient in

  3D CAD tools

  (Creo must / Catia (preferred)
• Knowledge of

  DFMEA, DFM/DFA, GD&T, APQP, PPAP

  processes.
