Scope of Work Senior Engineer has a key role in both performing and coordinating the operational work needed to ensure cross functionally anchored concepts and technical solutions meeting defined product QDCF targets. The role covers all aspects of product development process -from advanced engineering and concept generation to detailed development, industrialization and product maintenance. The deliverables are to a large extent driven by Gates, Releases and Design loops. Responsible to independently drive Cross functional activities to resolve developmental issues and achieve set project deliverables. Must have Global mind-set to collaborate and work with engineers mostly at Cab, EEE, Product Design, Verification & Validation teams both locally as well as globally within Volvo as well as with suppliers and technology partners depending upon scope. Take ownership in development of engineering process & method documents (TR, guidelines, rules etc.) Contribute towards knowledge management within the area of assignment. This role involves collaborating with our global counterparts across multiple sites like Lyon, Gothenburg, Hagerstown, etc. Who are you Senior System Design Engineer with mechatronics competency works within the Powertrain System Components (PE-SC) group, responsible for designing and developing the Powertrain Engineering Electrical and Electronics (PE EE) Control systems, Architecture, Functions, and technical roadmaps for the team as per AGILE methodology. Will be responsible for Functional Safety ISO26262 and Cyber Security ISO21434 implementation of Powertrain EE system. Mentoring and coaching the team members on the emerging technologies and best practices for Powertrain Engineering Electrical and Electronics (PE-EE) System development through on-the-job training. Responsibilities Design and develop System (Sys), Hardware (HW), and Software (SW) requirement specifications, translating customer requirements to technical descriptions with in-depth technical impact analysis at sub-system, with good Quality, Delivery, Cost and Feature (QDCF) as per targets defined. Good understanding of the SW HW roadmaps and release process for powertrain Electronics Control Unit, Vehicle Architecture, communication protocols- CAN, LIN, Engine Driveline Components like Starter, Alternator, Sensors Actuators, troubleshooting and diagnostics. Ensures all the cross-functional requirements are well incorporated into the design from the aftermarket, manufacturing, purchasing, and other Powertrain product streams (Base Engine, Combustion, EATS (Exhaust After Treatment System)), Certification needs, Verification, and Validation needs. Should have a good understanding of Engine, Powertrain Control Systems, Calibration processes and Engine testing methodologies. Responsible for deployment of concepts of Functional Safety ISO26262, Cyber Security ISO21434, DFMEA(Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), HARA(Hazard Analysis), TARA (Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment), FTA(Fault Tree Analysis), RCA(Root Cause Analysis) etc. Hands-on knowledge of CAN, LIN, DOIP, J1939, J1587, UDS protocols ASPICE and agile development process . Experience in HIL/ SIL is a merit Experience in Technologies e-MOB, H2 ICE/ Alternate fuel , Fuel Cell is a Merit. Knowledge in Volvo GTT development process and tools is a plus Innovative and creative mindset to provide engineering solutions and concepts Required Competence BE/BTech/ME/MTech with 8-12 years of experience in Electrical/Electronics and Communication Engineering. Experience in Powertrain Vehcile System Design in OEMs like TATA Motors, Mahindra, Daimler, Bosch, Tata Technologies etc. Knowledge in the areas of Commercial Vehicle Systems and sub-subsystems. Experience with Embedded C, model-based design MATLAB, Python, etc for system engineering and automation is a merit. Strong hands-on technical experience in Electrical/Electronic engineering and diagnostics. Knowledge of Software, Functional development, Diagnostics, and System platform development. Demonstrate a strong ability to learn on the job and deploy. Customer quality mindset and competence to guide the cross-functional team. Good communication and problem-solving skills.
