Expeditors International of Washington, Inc. is seeking an experienced attorney specializing in international employment and labor law. The position will be located onsite at our Bellevue, Washington office. Job Description The Commercial Employment Attorney will join a world-class legal department and devote time to a wide variety of labour and employment legal matters, primarily in the Asia Pacific and MAIR regions. Primary responsibilities include: Supporting and advising business teams, including executives, managers, employee relations,information services, and operations regarding compliance with existing and forthcominglabor and employment laws and regulations. Advising on issues such as discipline, non-competition, redundancies, leave, disability,contingent workers, equity, contractor management, occupational health and safety, anti-discrimination,wage and hour, and union/labor relations Drafting service provider, commission, non-compete, handbooks and policies, employment, and settlementagreements Conducting internal investigations Managing litigation, outside counsel, and budgets Travel: Expected 5% to 15%; Valid passport/authorized to travel internationally Qualifications Juris Doctorate, Bachelor of Laws, or equivalent degree in Laws Licensed/authorized to practice law in any jurisdiction in the US or in any jurisdiction within the APAC and MAIR regions, in goodstanding At least 5 years of experience in a top law firm preferred In-house experience working in the law department of a Fortune 500 company highlydesirable, but not required Strong knowledge of, and practical experience advising on labor and employment laws andregulations Practical experience working with trade unions preferred The ability to identify, analyze, assess, and communicate legal risks to enable internal clients to make quality, risk-adjusted business decisions. Strong analytical, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills Excellent organizational skills with high level of attention to detail and accuracy Excellent business judgment and ability to work independently Fluent oral and written English required.
