Description
Overview We are an early-stage, mission-driven startup focused on leveraging advanced AI to detect and prevent insurgent activities, misinformation, and emerging threats across high-risk regions. We’re seeking a visionary and hands-on CTO to lead our technology strategy, build cutting-edge AI platforms, and scale secure, reliable, and scalable systems for real-world impact. Key Responsibilities 1. Lead the end-to-end technology vision, architecture, and execution of AI-first platforms focused on threat analysis, insurgency detection, predictive risk modeling, and real-time intelligence aggregation. 2. Build and lead cross-functional engineering and data science teams; foster a culture of innovation, rapid experimentation, and secure development. 3. Architect robust backend and edge-computing systems for ingesting and processing multimodal data (video, text, signals, satellite, social media). 4. Design and implement machine learning pipelines for NLP, anomaly detection, computer vision, and signal intelligence. 5. Ensure cybersecurity and data privacy are core to platform design, especially given the high-risk nature of target markets. 6. Collaborate with product, field ops, and policy stakeholders to align technological outputs with real-world tactical needs. 7. Represent the technology strategy to investors, partners, and key customers (government, defense, humanitarian sectors). Required Skills & Qualifications 1. Proven track record as a founding/early-stage technology leader in AI-focused startups. 2. Deep experience in designing and deploying AI/ML models in production, preferably in sensitive domains such as defense, security, or crisis response. 3. Proficient with cloud architecture (AWS/GCP/Azure), real-time data pipelines, and secure data warehousing. 4. Knowledge of frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face Transformers, and relevant MLOps practices. 5. Strong understanding of signal processing, geospatial data, and real-time analytics is a plus. 6. Experience building tech products for low-connectivity or adversarial environments is highly desirable. 7. Familiarity with regulatory and ethical considerations around AI and surveillance. 8. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interface across technical and nontechnical stakeholders. Preferred: 1. Prior experience working with governments, NGOs, or defense contractors. 2. Exposure to policy, counterterrorism, or disinformation domains.
