Back End Developer

Job Summary:

We’re looking for a pragmatic, curious full-time backend developer with strong fundamentals and a “systems mindset.” You’ll primarily build backend services in Go and Rust inside a Docker-based environment, but the role also requires enough flexibility and deeper understanding of software engineering that you can adapt quickly to C#, Java, or PHP when needed.

This is a long-term role for someone who enjoys building reliable services, working with databases, thinking about architecture, and solving real business problems — not just writing code. You’ll be part of a small team where things move fast, and where we value clarity, ownership, and clean execution over bureaucracy. Occasionally, you may also handle simple frontend tasks or small UI adjustments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain backend services using Go and Rust in a Docker-based setup
• Design clean and scalable APIs, internal services, and backend utilities
• Work confidently with SQL (schema design, indexing, query performance, migrations)
• Contribute to system architecture, performance improvements, and infrastructure thinking
• Write clean, structured, maintainable code with a focus on long-term simplicity
• Collaborate across products — you may switch between systems as priorities shift
• Handle occasional small frontend tasks (simple admin UIs, debugging, layout fixes)
• Use AI tools (ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate productivity without sacrificing quality
• Participate in async progress updates over Discord and weekly video calls
• Learn quickly and adapt to evolving systems — we often build from scratch

Must-Have Skills:

• Strong backend development experience (language-flexible mindset)
• Strong experience with Go and/or Rust (at least one solid, both preferred)
• Solid understanding of Docker, container-based development, and deployment workflows
• Strong SQL knowledge (query writing, joins, indexes, normalization, performance thinking)
• Able to build clean and reliable API services
• Comfortable working independently and following instructions precisely
• Strong reasoning skills: knows when to simplify vs. over-engineer
• Good communication habits and reliable delivery
• Comfortable using AI tools for efficiency, but not dependent on them
• Fluent in English as our primary company language

Bonus Skills:

• Experience with C#/.NET, Java, or PHP
• Familiarity with distributed systems, microservices, or message-based architectures
• Experience with authentication systems (JWT, OAuth, SSO, Keycloak, etc.)
• Familiarity with infrastructure tooling (Linux, Nginx, CI/CD, Git workflows)
• Experience with caching (Redis), queues, or background job systems
• Some frontend experience (React, simple admin UIs)
• Experience with GraphQL, WebSockets, or event-driven systems

Co-working space (primary), with flexibility for remote days

Hours:

Full-time, roughly aligned with Central European Time (±3 hours)
