Role Overview:

As a Backend Developer, you'll be at the core of PiePay’s innovation, building scalable, high-performance systems that will serve millions of users. This is a unique opportunity to take full ownership of backend development, collaborate with a highly skilled team, and work directly alongside our IIT Madras alumni founders.

At PiePay, you won’t just be writing code—you’ll be shaping the technology that drives a disruptive fintech product, solving real-world challenges at scale, and accelerating your growth in a fast-paced startup environment.

Responsibilities:

• Translate product requirements into robust features, taking complete ownership from design through development to deployment.
• Architect comprehensive system designs, develop efficient database schemas and REST APIs that support future scaling. 
• Plan and implement scalable infrastructure, optimise APIs, conduct load testing, and identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
• Proactively troubleshoot and fix bugs and production issues to maintain optimal system performance and reliability.
• Ensure adherence to project timelines while upholding high-quality development standards throughout the lifecycle 

Requirements:

• Min 1 year of development work experience
• Strong understanding of Javascript, Typescript, NodeJS and MongoDB
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools quickly
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
• Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with automation tools like Playwright and Puppeteer
• Awareness/experience of Cloud Platform AWS
• Familiarity with BigQuery and dash boarding tools for data visualisation
• Awareness of best security practices for B2C applications
• Worked on infrastructure/application scaling activities
• Candidates having B.Tech and/or MBA degree from a top-tier institute is a plus
