Job Description – Azure APIM Ops with Bicep Developer Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Azure APIM Ops with Bicep Developer to design, implement, and manage API Management (APIM) solutions in a cloud-native environment. The role requires strong expertise in Azure API Management, Infrastructure-as-Code(IaC) using Bicep, and CI/CD automation for consistent deployment across environments (Dev, Test, Perf, Prod). The developer will work closely with architects, DevOps engineers, and integration teams to operationalize and optimize API platforms.

Key Responsibilities

· APIM Operations s Management

o Configure, manage, and monitor Azure API Management (APIM) instances.

o Implement policies for authentication, authorization, logging, throttling, and routing.

o Manage APIM resources such as APIs, Products, Groups, Diagnostics, and Named Values.

o Troubleshoot API failures, performance issues, and connectivity errors with backend services.

· Infrastructure-as-Code (Bicep)

o Design and develop Bicep templates for provisioning APIM and related resources.

o Parameterize templates for multi-environment deployments (Dev/Perf/Prod).

o Manage Key Vault references (identityClientId, secretIdentifier) in APIM Named Values.

o Ensure IaC templates align with governance, security, and naming standards.

o Experience on building Infrastructure using BICEP and APIM Ops extractor and Publisher for APIM

· CI/CD Automation

o Integrate Bicep templates with Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions pipelines.

o Automate deployment of APIM artifacts (APIs, policies, diagnostics) through CI/CD.

o Implement APIM Ops Extractor for exporting and version-controlling APIM configurations.

o Support rollback, recovery, and environment synchronization processes.

· Security s Compliance

o Configure Managed Identity authentication between APIM and Azure Functions/App Services.

o Remove dependency on function keys; adopt AAD access token authentication.

o Ensure compliance with enterprise security policies (TLS 1.2+, AES-256, SOC2, etc.).

· Monitoring s Observability

o Set up diagnostics/logging to Application Insights/Log Analytics.

o Create dashboards for API performance, failure analysis, and usage insights.

o Implement proactive alerting for APIM health and performance thresholds.

Required Skills

· Strong experience with Azure API Management (APIM) – policies, backends, diagnostics, named values.

· Experience on building Infrastructure using BICEP and APIM Ops extractor and Publisher for APIM

· Hands-on expertise in Bicep IaC – templates, parameters, modules, and deployment.

· Solid understanding of Azure DevOps Pipelines / GitHub Actions for CI/CD automation.

· Experience with Azure Key Vault integration in APIM.

· Familiarity with Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Event Grid, Service Bus

integrations.

· Good troubleshooting skills in API failures, policy debugging, and connectivity issues.

· Knowledge of APIM Ops Extractor and GitOps practices for API lifecycle management.

· Strong understanding of Azure RBAC, Managed Identity, AAD authentication.

Nice-to-Have Skills

· Experience with YAML/JSON APIM configuration files.

· Knowledge of PowerShell or Azure CLI for automation.

· Familiarity with Terraform in addition to Bicep.

· Exposure to App Insights Kusto queries (KQL) for log analysis.

· Understanding of multi-region API deployments and DR setup.

· Knowledge of network security (private endpoints, VNET integration, NSGs, firewalls).

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

· 4+ years of experience in Azure cloud development C operations.

· 2+ years of dedicated experience with APIM and IaC (Bicep).

· Relevant Azure certifications (AZ-204, AZ-400, AZ-305, or API Management specialty) are a plus.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹1,400,000.00 - ₹1,500,000.00 per year
