Purpose/Objective


    This role is responsible for supporting the team by executing essential regulatory tasks, initiating compliance procedures, and maintaining effective communication both internally and externally. This role is pivotal role for ensuring smooth operation within the regulatory framework of the power.

Key Responsibilities of Role


    Lead - Regulatory (ERCG) Policy Advocacy and Regulatory Compliance: Assist in monitoring policy developments and regulatory changes that may impact the organization's operations. Support efforts to ensure that the organization's practices align with current regulations and legislative requirements. Help gather information and contribute to internal discussions on how sector regulations and government interventions may affect the organization. Aid in the preparation of compliance documentation and reports, ensuring that all business activities adhere to regulatory standards. Stay up-to-date with changes in legislation and regulatory requirements, and assist in communicating these changes to relevant departments within the organization. Due Diligence and Research: Conduct due diligence for mergers and acquisitions (M&A) from a regulatory perspective, preparing notes and presentations for the Business Development (BD) team. Perform regulatory research by reviewing updates from regulatory websites such as the Ministry of Power (MOP) to identify new draft notifications, regulations, or policies. Support compliance efforts by contributing to the development and maintenance of internal controls and procedures. Litigation Coordination and Petition Drafting: Coordinate with advocates, briefing them on regulatory litigation matters, and ensure timely submission of petitions. Brief legal firms on specific cases and assist with in-house drafting of petitions by compiling information and ensuring logical presentation. If law firms are drafting petitions, provide a first draft or a comprehensive information bucket for their use. Manage administrative tasks related to litigation, such as obtaining certified copies of legal documents. Internal MIS and Reporting: Prepare internal MIS reports listing cases pending before the court, categorizing them by criticality, forum, and plant, and disseminate to promoters. Compile monthly reports detailing judgments passed, new guidelines from state or central regulators, and other relevant updates. Conduct weekly review meetings to discuss regulatory cases and develop strategies based on direction from the Head/ Chief of Energy Regulatory and Commercial group (ERCG). Monitor the progression of regulatory cases, keeping detailed records of filings, hearings, and judgments. Assist in the preparation and organization of legal documents required for regulatory submissions and correspondence. Public Hearings and Petition Filing: Attend public hearings, both online and in-person, and provide briefings on the proceedings. File petitions after obtaining approval from the team lead and Head/ Chief of ERCG, ensuring adherence to internal protocols. Payment Processing: Generate a Note in SAP (NIS) checklist and apply for filing fees for petitions related to disputes and claims. Coordinate with the Group Data Governance and Control (GDGC) team for system uploads and facilitate the review process with the Adani Business Excellence team before final payment by the finance team. Handle different types of statutory or court fee payments required by various regulatory bodies, whether online or via challan. Obtain payment certificates and provide them to the team lead for record-keeping and further action. Administrative Assistance and Process Enhancement: Execute administrative tasks related to legal filings, such as managing Vakalatnamas and ensuring the availability of certified copies for proceedings. Support the Lead in organizing and managing regulatory files and references for efficient access and review. Identify opportunities for streamlining regulatory processes and propose improvements to current systems. Participate in the implementation of technological solutions that enhance the efficiency and accuracy of regulatory monitoring and reporting . Qualifications and Experience


    Educational Qualification: B.E./ B.Tech/ Masters ( Power Management, related field), Additional Certifications in regulatory affairs or compliance preferred Work Experience (Range of years): Minimum 5 years of experience in regulatory compliance, preferably in power and transmission or related field. Preferred Industry: Background in the power and energy sector with exposure to power and transmission industry, with an understanding of regulatory challenges and compliance mechanisms.
