The Associate Director or Director Warehousing
will be responsible for leading, planning, and optimizing all warehousing operations across the organization. This role ensures efficient storage, inventory management, dispatch, safety compliance, cost control, and continuous improvement across all warehouse locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement warehousing strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Plan warehouse capacity, expansion, infrastructure, and automation initiatives.
- Establish KPIs and drive performance improvements across all warehouse units.
- Operations Management
- Oversee receiving, storage, picking, packing, dispatch, and reverse logistics.
- Ensure timely order fulfilment and accuracy to meet customer expectations.
- Optimize space utilization, material flow, and resource allocation.
- Inventory Control
- Implement inventory accuracy programs ,cycle counts, stock audits, root cause analysis
- Reduce stock variances and prevent pilferage, damage, and obsolescence.
- Collaborate with procurement, production, and sales for smooth inventory planning.
- Compliance and Safety
- Ensure operations comply with statutory requirements, company policies, EHS standards, and quality norms.
- Promote a safety-first culture and conduct regular safety audits.
- Technology and Automation
- Implement WMS, barcode or RFID systems, and digital dashboards.
- Drive automation projects ,HHD, conveyors, sorters, AS/RS, AGVs, etc. as relevant.
- Improve data visibility and operational transparency.
- Cost and Budget Management
- Prepare and manage warehouse operational budgets.
- Control transportation, labour, storage, and operational expenses.
- Improve cost-per-unit handled through productivity enhancement initiatives.
- Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop warehouse managers and large workforce teams.
- Hire, train, and evaluate staff to maintain high performance and discipline.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
- Vendor and Stakeholder Management
- Manage relationships with logistics partners, warehouse service providers, and third- party vendors.
- Coordinate with supply chain, production, procurement, finance, and customer service teams.
Project Management and Strategic Planning : Can work on creating long term warehousing plans considering business expansion plans. Understanding of setting up warehouse layout.
Qualifications And Experience
- Graduate or Postgraduate in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, or related field.
- Upto 15 years of experience in warehousing, logistics, or supply chain operations.
- Strong knowledge of WMS, ERP systems, and advanced warehousing technologies.
- Proven leadership experience managing multi-location warehouses.
