Company Context and Strategic Lens

Neo Metaliks is part of a promoter group combining a high‑utilization metallurgical manufacturer (Neo Metaliks) and Rupa & Co., one of India’s leading knitwear brands. The group brings:


  • Large‑scale manufacturing experience (400k TPA pig‑iron with captive power) and brown/green‑field expansion comfort.
  • Cash‑generative balance sheets and strong banking relationships enabling creative financing models.
  • Nationwide market access via promoter networks across industrials and real estate, and consumer trust from Rupa.


Our vision for the BESS Business:

Commission a 1 GWh assembly (cells imported), deliver turnkey containerized systems for grid‑scale and Battery packs or rack mounted systems for C&I, build OEM/EMS/BMS partnerships, and scale to a ₹2,000 Cr+ business in 2–3 years with eventual backward integration.


Role Details

We are looking for a Applications and Solutions Engineer – BESS (C&I) Business.


  • Location

    : Kolkata (30–40% client/site exposure in initial 6 months)
  • Experience

    : 6–10 years in solar/storage/industrial power (open to 3–6 years at Applications Engineer level)
  • Reporting

    : Director – BESS
  • Purpose of the Role

    : Provide the techno-commercial backbone for C&I BESS—site discovery, sizing, solution architecture, proposals, and early-stage commissioning; join BD on client meetings during the initial phase.


Key Responsibilities to include

  • Discovery & site work: audits (bills, interval data, DG logs), load profiling; align use-cases (peak shaving, solar + storage, backup/DG offset).
  • Solution architecture: select chemistry (e.g., LFP), PCS topology, EMS/controls; draft SLDs, BoMs, layouts.
  • Sizing & economics: build LCOS/TCO and customer ROI/IRR models; define dispatch strategy within warranty limits.
  • Proposals: convert designs into clear client proposals with performance guarantees and stated assumptions.
  • Vendor/OEM interface: evaluate quotes/specs; support FAT/SAT checklists; ensure compliance with IEC/IS/UL standards.
  • Commissioning & handover: support installation checks, functional tests, EMS configuration; train client O&M; prepare as-built packs.
  • Quality & safety: embed detection/suppression, clearances, earthing, thermal design, and protection coordination.
  • Internal enablement: maintain calculators/templates; coach BD on technical narratives; feed execution learnings back to design.


Qualification & Other Details

  • B.E./B.Tech (Electrical/Power/Energy); M.Tech a plus.
  • Hands-on with C&I site evaluations, SLDs, and integration with PV/DG/UPS.
  • Proficient with load curves, kW/kWh, tariff structures; strong Excel; familiarity with HOMER/PVSyst (ETAP/DIgSILENT a plus).
  • Working knowledge of EMS/controls, PCS selection, protections, and safety/certification regimes (IEC/IS/UL).
  • Strong client-facing communication; ability to present technical proposals clearly; willingness to travel.
