The Role

This role provides leadership for the Northern Trust APAC technology teams, with direct accountability for APAC Infrastructure in support of local and enterprise priorities. Reporting directly to the Global Head of Infrastructure, with a dotted line to Global Technology Leadership, this role Partners directly with global CIOs/CTOs to enable regional technology related strategies as well as influencing and providing recommendations to drive efficiency, productivity and opportunities aligned with enterprise priorities. Actively serves as the Northern Trust Technology senior representative and is part of the India Senior Leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Works with global technology leadership to support the global technology operating model, contributing recommendations for local talent strategies in support of BU priorities and enterprise goals
  • Support the risk, resiliency, stability and continuity of technology services and operations across the region. Provide regulatory engagement and oversight.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to the next level of leaders - promoting a positive culture, effective people management, HR policies (performance management, promotions, compensation cycles etc.) and a well-functioning operating model. Be involved and engaged in the hiring of senior talent for the region.
  • Responsible for technology budget and expenditure for the APAC region, ensuring optimal allocation and utilization of resources. Develops unit(s) budget (infrastructure) and manages the expenses for the unit
  • Member of the India Legal Entity Board owning the Tech Entity in India & part of the Global CTO Exec team
  • Actively participate in industry events to promote NT as a key organization in the APAC region to attract talent.
Infrastructure Executive for the APAC region with direct responsibility on regional deliverables:
  • Participates in developing the global infrastructure strategic plan and sets goals and priorities based on the direction set for the unit.
  • Proactively proposes strategies for building out emerging tech capabilities in India as the Global CTO representative
  • Manage relationships with key managed service providers based in APAC.  Oversee all contract and consulting engagements, liaison with local Procurement
  • Provide a regional escalation point for Technology Leadership and Business Stakeholders as the executive in the region. Senior leader during Major Incidents with a broader impact to the Organization
  • Manage, Oversee and Influence regional Org Structure, Operating Model & Alignments, working in conjunction with the BU CIOs and CTO
  • Identifying and delivering productivity and efficiency opportunities within region and globally
  • Provides oversight of Compute platforms (mainframe, iSeries, Windows, Unix/Linux); global database platforms; middleware; storage and backup; automation for productivity and resiliency; network management; IT resiliency engineering and automation; partner and field services; IT Service management; Infrastructure controls and governance; administration and project management; cloud operations.
  • Operate in a highly regulated and competitive market, requiring agility, innovation, and resilience.

Skills And Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will hold at least 10+ years of experience in technology leadership and management roles, preferably in the financial services industry as a CTO/CIO
  • A proven record of accomplishment for understanding complex and large-scale technology domains, involving multiple stakeholders and domains.
  • A strong knowledge and understanding of the technology trends and developments in the market, and the ability to apply them to create business value and differentiation.
  • Proven ability to successfully partner in a global operating model with mission-critical processing at a large enterprise (preferably financial services) 
  • A solid grasp of the technology risk and compliance landscape, managing a Control environment, engaging with audit and regulators and the ability to manage them effectively.
  • A demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a diverse and geographically dispersed technology team, and to foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  • Transformation experience in driving change and building best in class global function within the region
  • A bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
